Entire inventory gone

Welp, thought this was a pretty nifty game - until I came back to play a bit more and my entire backpack was empty of all the stuff I had gathered and tools I'd crafted.

I can forgive visual glitches but wiping out progress is a show stopper. This one needs more time in the oven.

Did you die? If so I believe that your inventory is left on your body. If not well this is is a demo and the game has not been released. Expect bugs as the disclaimer says. Also I have been playing this game for over 8 hours and have not run into any showstoppers. Other than it not being optimized as well as it could be its been working as intended for me. Just giving my experience.

No, I did not die. I had barely made it to the initial camp area and placed the fire urn thing. I left the game, came back to figure out how crafting/building worked, and everything I had was gone.
Experience-destroying bugs are not a good way to promote the game, especially when this is combined with a ridiculous timer. I've gone back to square one with nothing, and 2 hours of the time limit are gone.

These two things don't make sense. You had barely made it to the initial camp and placed the fire urn, which takes what? 5 minutes? Maybe 10?

But then you said you lost 2 hours of the "time limit".

I have played this game now for an entire save and a half and decided to try myself some base building, had to log out for a sec and when i came back it rollbacked my entire build so for sure there is some issues, and i didn't hard quit to desktop that some people wrote about can cause issues, i went back to menu and then loaded into another world, and then back to fetch a few items from my other world. It actually duped a couple if items that i had moved from storage boxes to my inventory, so i had double building hammers and a couple of stone blocks,, not sure though how much stuff i also lost in this process as i deposited a bunch of items into the stash before i swapped server and when the boxes also rollbacked yeah, some were lost some were duped

THEN .. you might have loaded the wrong world save and by accident created a New World.

ME and my buddies are playing a private server and we are having this issue as well. One of them left and when they came back they have lost everything. Their levels, their items and the quests that we have finished. It's when you leave the game and come back. There were 3 people who tested it and came back and it happened to all 3 of them. I dont know what the issue is.

I play on a dedicated server and have this issue. Our world was down so i booted up my own world and played. When our dedicated server was back up, I joined that.
Now, everytime my i log in and out of the dedicated server, it ♥♥♥♥♥ with my inventory, and removes any weapons i have upgraded as well as giving me the inventory items from when i was playing on my own world. Only have that 1 character.
So there is definetely a bug here.

Same here, played on private server and all gear gone when we logged back in. Yes it is new but it is basic stuff to save the game and progress even on day 1 hour 1. Still like the game, waiting on the fix.

these all sound like steam cloud save conflicts. the game just hit EA, so if you're going to jump around between games back your stuff up locally and turn off the steam cloud backup

Same thing happened to me.. i Crashed twice and then exited to main menue and had my inventory/ levels and quests and all reverted back to 4 hour's previouse...

We are aware of many reports of lost progression / rollbacks happening in their game. The causes could be multiple so in order to investigate, we are requesting that you create a ticket and upload your logs and game save.

Upload your latest log file, located in steamapps\common\Enshrouded
Upload your all older log files until before the rollback. Older log files are located in steamapps\common\Enshrouded\backup
Upload your game save, located in C:\Users[YOURUSERNAME]\Saved Games\Enshrouded Upload both world and character saves, if you have them.
Tell us what you were doing before the rollback, or if you have any suspicion of any behavior that might have triggered the rollback.
Wait patiently until a member of the team can get to your ticket to investigate."

The dedicated server is likely bugged then, it likely overwritten your own local save (since all your characters are local to you).

This either means:

When you log out of the server, the game server didn't save properly and somehow 'deleted' all the items on your characters before your client ends up saving... Hence you have nothing.

I was playing the game yesterday and put all my gear in my inventory and at the end of the game session I lagged out of the game. I then jumped back in tonight all of my gear is gone! I only have a few things in my backpack it kept. But all my maxed out level 32 gear is just gone! Poof! No death spot whatsoever on the map! What is going on with this?! This needs to be fixed ASAP!

Exit game, reload. Log in and out at an alter that does not have a base attached. Once you load into that lonely alter. Wait for compiling shaders to finish (you can see the status on the pause screen). Then travel to your base. For a quick fix, press the G button on your inventories, that sometimes will bring the items in that box back without having to log in and out

I had Same issue with latest update turns out I had to join a friends game ( could join a server if you have access) and drop my inventory I had an Older back pack that was made by an NPC that no longer makes it. Deleted it and remade it form correct NPC and issue resolved.
