Shroud Root - Instant Death?

I found a shroud root in the North Center of the map (a different one than the Elixir Wells). It was in a cave in the mountains, and a bit difficult to get to. Once I got inside, my enshrouded timer went from 5:00 to 0:00 almost instantaneously.

Is there a protection I'm missing, or is this a bug? Perhaps something limited for the demo?

might be a bug, but there are different levels of shroud. If your flame stone is "low level" and you enter higher level shroud it will cause the timer go down really fast. AFAIK it has different fog color.

The flame altar upgrade at the base gives a lot of advantages including letting you stay in shroud longer and go into higher level shroud areas. The fog is coloured red instead of blue to let you know not to go in there, you will die almost instantly.

Good to know, I have no idea what color the fog is, I basically had to drop down from above to get to it. I'll assume this is higher level fog and play with it.

It will also flash with the words "Deadly Shroud" or something like that.

I upgraded the Flame altar twice (with matron head) and it changed the deadly shroud to normal
