Are they able to be outfitted similarly to how it can be done in Dragon's Dogma for the main pawn and in CRPGs like Divinity: Original Sin for the companions?
Not sure
regarding 2. according to the beta infos your base is completly safe. there is no raids or siege mechanics at all for now.
regarding 3. you will plant crops cook food and meals and repair and craft gear at your base. kinda like valheim if you know that for the most part.
They did not need food/drink ect
Most are not fond of Discord and its communities, and others prefer to play by themselves.
Also, I'm not sure what made you think we're expecting the developers to push aside everything they're currently doing to contemplate this question with regard to their priorities and resource expenditure for them, but all we're asking is if it is currently possible and if it is something on the horizon of their list. If it isn't, it's no big deal—at least not for me.
Also, who is "us"? Are you one of Enshrouded's developers?
1a. NPC's are static they do not move once you spawn them in with the summoning rod. They act as static quest givers and speak to them to open their retrospective crafting menu's.
1b. NPCs will indeed ask you to fetch certain items for them to expand their crafting abilities and expand the crafting recipes they can craft for you. Some of these items are mid game, others are near end-game. It is purely level and story-quest completion based.
1c. NPCs do need a house however, you don't need to put them in individual houses, you can put all the NPC's in a large house with a roof, windows and make sure there's enough room for their crafting tables/items they need.
2. Enemies will not come and attack your base, you are completely safe whilst inside your area of flame protection. (The big red square)
3. It is not just a voxel system, you can use the crafting hammer and it will allow you to use various shapes, sizes, walls, windows, door frames, terrain editing and much more.
According to the roadmap, there is no plans to incorporate a workshop for custom builds but that's just "as of yet" so that much is unknown.
I hope this has helped answer your questions in more detail.
Companions do not accompany you, you cannot outfit them and they have no function other than to act as a point of opening a crafting menu and quest givers.
This is however, early access and as much as I'm sure the developers may have plans for the companions in the future.
People tend prioritise the things that affect them the most. They need to have a broader scope.
Looks like I won't be moving on from Conan Exiles after all.
