HVCI-KMCI Dont know How I feel
I like the game and the concept of the game but thee fact I have to disable HVCI really worries me I read about it but it seems extremely important Can anyone explain it a little better or even a reason I shouldn't be worried or should I just turn it off when I play the game and turn it back on when I'm done

What is this choice?
Test a game or potentially make the computer less safe.

Instead of using a system that does not require this

I'm out

I don't like this either but I only use my Windows PC for gaming and have nothing important in it. My main daily driver is my Linux mini-PC so I'm kind of tolerating it. 😩

I intalled the game today, when i launch it asked me to disable HVCI-KMCI after the anticheat consent, so i go to the stam library and uninstalled it, i dont wanna malware on my computer so if they wanna me to disable thing that affects the integrity of my computer i respond with a ♥♥♥♥ YOU.

HVCI is a feature that was added in Windows 11 and is for Organizations and is more about hardware security and actual cyber attacks and you probably should turn it off anyway if you play games because it causes a sizable performance hit.

Stop being so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ paranoid about everything related to China jesus christ.

Install Wireshark and monitor your traffic if youre gonna be so paranoid. You are literally getting spooked about the equivalent of having to disable Secure Boot to install Linux

Funnily enough, Linux doesn't even support HVCI. It's literally just sinophobic gamers latching onto a buzz word they saw in a reddit thread 2 1/2 years ago. The actual usefulness of HVCI for the end user has been up for debate since its inclusion in Windows 11.

If you got to that point it means you clicked Yes to the UAC Prompt, meaning you already gave the game elevated access and compromised your PC rendering the need to turn HVCI off to spy on you redundant. This is why we keep saying you're being ridiculous. Please learn about actual pc security.

Spying on an end user does not require the amount of effort yall claim they are putting in when all it actually takes is you clicking the UAC prompt. Any game on steam or any game you install from anywhere has the exact same potential to install malware on your machine because these games all require elevated privileges to install in the first place.

Also the funniest part of all

Theres nothing stopping you from turning HVCI back on when you're done playing. The anticheat disables itself when you do this.

The inclusion of HVCI stemmed from the work from home and needing even more security on business laptops so end users didn't keep installing stuff they shouldn't not on pc's they don't own and getting company materials stolen or ransomware installed. There is a reason Microsoft states that gaming pc's should just disable it.

This is really uninformed. It asks you to disable it so it can install an anticheat, similar to Valorant (Except Valorant's ac is infinitely more invasive). The fact is that it often disabled by default and you just don't know about it.

People who are frightened to deactivate this security, just suppose more is better ; doesn't care what it does in fact. It's a new feature and probably going to change.
Even if it's working as intended, that not going to fully protect you from every possible threat ; being mindful of what you do, using trusted sources, etc

People are quick to denunciation China data mining
I mean, doesn't Microsoft do? Nor Valve do?

Windows 10 is bloated as hell, could HVCI adds up? Who really dig into reverse engineering?
instead of just giving micro$ speech...

If you DO HAVE sensitive data on your pc, then you just use different storage and system.
Certainly NOT a windows system where you play games.

You play on that windows computer and do daily things?
You're already, an easy target. Like most using regular Iphone or Android.
Every system by default is bloated.

Just look at the way people doesn't mind target advertising, promotions ; tell me you do have, and know how to protect, sensitive data ?

EDIT : And yeah don't get me started on thoses anti cheat
In the end, what risk are we talking about? :3
Are we still talking about gaming pc....

EDIT2 : I mean I can't help
Doesn't cheatengine modify memory value?
So people expect an anti cheat to be effective, without access to the game memory?

I would turn it off in general because it's bad for performance
Animented Jul 16, 2023 @ 12:53pm
Just don't turn it off
Jaspik Jul 17, 2023 @ 12:00am
Don't turn it off, just delete it. This game is a CCP data collector for your PC. And do not listen chinese players with hidden profile :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
