This game is not finished, and not released. I found that there was a glitch in one of the painting menus that I had to use a keyboard to get out of. Of course they will fix this.
The only reason my original Wreckfest has a warning about controller support is because of the mapping I use, and all it says is the glyphs may be inaccurate.
Great question!
First of all, you need to be aware that the game specifically states it only has PARTIAL CONTROLLER SUPPORT, like the previous games.
As far as what you can't do with a controller in Wreckfest, the answer is navigate cleanly!
The reason these series of games are listed as having only PARTIAL CONTROLLER SUPPORT is because the menu's are NOT designed for a controller interface, they are designed for keyboard interface first.
But the market has changed! I would lean into the statement (without full knowledge of a study) that MOST pc gamers of driving games do it with a controller nowadays.
That wasn't the case when the original Flatout! series dropped. Controller support, while somewhat decent in many console ports on PC, still wasn't a top concern for PC developers.
Again, now things are different and I think nearly everyone on PC has an XBOX or PS controller hooked up that they'd rather use instead of keyboard.
To repeat, it's not just about whether or not it's POSSIBLE to navigate and play the game with a controller to gain FULL SUPPORT, it's about whether or not the game was DESIGNED for it.
Go look at the series' Steam pages for each game. They clearly state PARTIAL SUPPORT.
I'm right, and I know it.
I can't lay it out any cleaner than my previous statement, bro!
