Between dlc and mod support, I think it'd be smarter to add mods first since it's probably not as much direct work for the devteam, but as someone who doesn't make video games for a living you should take my opinion with a few grains of salt.
As Peejay mentioned, it's on Unity meaning easy to make mods for, official support or not.
Other Unity games without developer mod support, like Subnautica, already have updates that break mods completely (like the latest update), so most definitely. The Paleo Pines devs seem extremely protective of their game, to the point they released a demo instead of early access since EA implies they’re open to feedback…they’re not lol (and also early access tends to have a bad wrap like with ARK). The save file thing is especially irritating since, if 1 thing were to f*ck up, you’d lose everything since there’s no plausible way to back up save files. They’re just 100% fixated on doing things their way, which leads to strange and frustrating limitations…
Other things I would love to see is removing the follower limit so I don't abandon dinos when I recruit a new one, and a tool to help plan the proper size needed for pens, as well as a hover explaining buffs on food. I also wish the journal entries for your helpers/friends took down snacks tried/hated, because some of the animations are confusing, and that the journal also let you know on its main page when someone wants to talk to you and where they are. A way to check past dialogues would also be super useful.
Agree, there are so many opportunities for cool combos.
