mods..
tbh i think mod support SHOULD be added for a very good reason.

it helps brings more active players, its free work, people wont get as bored as fast, and its just a good way to connect with your community!
and yes i know they said they dont plan on adding mod support any time soon but i would like if this was taken into consideration..especially as someone with adhd and who is prone to getting bored constantly...
i really do love the game and i think id love it more with mods :MHRISE_Felyne:

This game does use Unity, which is a very flexible engine for modding as you may know. I definitely want to see some mods for this game pop up, but with how buggy it is and how niche/quiet it is in mainstream gaming, it'll probably be a very long time, if at all

I'm really hoping for a modding community. But I'm not expecting one.

This game has so much potential for mods, I really really hope they implement mod support eventually. We could have new dinosaurs, new color variants, new cooking recipes... plus a modding community will stay often stay active years after a game's release, people are still making stuff for Fallout New Vegas and that's almost 15 years old (at the time of this post).

Between dlc and mod support, I think it'd be smarter to add mods first since it's probably not as much direct work for the devteam, but as someone who doesn't make video games for a living you should take my opinion with a few grains of salt.

With the game actually having a niche following, i can see some of us starting working on mods soon enough - If some haven't already.

As Peejay mentioned, it's on Unity meaning easy to make mods for, official support or not.

A mod for veterinary care would be amazing! Simple things such as a wound bandage, or removing a thorn!

yeah, game could use few changes. Visuals - NPCs looks kinda ugly. Or functional. Like for custom flooring, it could block spawn of trash or add speed to movement/dino running.

QOL improvements like not having your ride abandon you at the earliest opportunity as soon as you dismount at home.

I agree that mod support should be provided by the developers... but doubt it will happen. I mean (and I could be wrong) these people were so against people playing the game how they want to play it that they went with a save system (the likes of which I can't remember seeing anywhere else) that doesn't allow you to protect/backup saves. And Unity games are "easy" to mod compared to say, Frostbite, but nowhere as easy to mod as games where the developers provide full modding support such as Skyrim. So yeah, more than likely people will start to figure it out w/o developer support... but understand it will likely be insanely limited and mods will break with just about every single update.

Other Unity games without developer mod support, like Subnautica, already have updates that break mods completely (like the latest update), so most definitely. The Paleo Pines devs seem extremely protective of their game, to the point they released a demo instead of early access since EA implies they’re open to feedback…they’re not lol (and also early access tends to have a bad wrap like with ARK). The save file thing is especially irritating since, if 1 thing were to f*ck up, you’d lose everything since there’s no plausible way to back up save files. They’re just 100% fixated on doing things their way, which leads to strange and frustrating limitations…

And that has aged very poorly now with the f*cking EA ceo

There are NSFW mods on games like Starbound so I feel like they might not allow mods to keep the game wholesome

I would love to see mods removing limitations to the amount of dinos you can keep to a pen. I adore the archaeopteryx and want to collect all of them, but only 3 to a pen makes me sad. I wish they were like the styracosaurus-I have 8 in a pen and LOVE watching them interact with each other!
Other things I would love to see is removing the follower limit so I don't abandon dinos when I recruit a new one, and a tool to help plan the proper size needed for pens, as well as a hover explaining buffs on food. I also wish the journal entries for your helpers/friends took down snacks tried/hated, because some of the animations are confusing, and that the journal also let you know on its main page when someone wants to talk to you and where they are. A way to check past dialogues would also be super useful.

The journal doesn't really need to record hated snacks? They'll like anything that is has their favorite flavor. So, Floral for T-Rex. They'll love one specific flavor *combo*. My noble Rex likes Floral/Juicy things. (Which is a huge category, with all the berries and several of the fruit trees)

A bit late but god yeah. Recolor mods *alone* would rule! I'm not too far into the game but aren't dreamstones limited too. Man.

Agree, there are so many opportunities for cool combos.
