The main point game is the dinosaurs really, it has a decent amount of different dino species and A LOT of colors variations for collectors but content wise it'll feel very lacking relatively quickly. Dinos are tamed and turned into helpers in relatively the same simple ways, with the lack of regions you can play in their abilities can quickly become bland and/or useless and you are heavily limited on how many you can have (though imo this isn't exactly a huge negative).
Now the biggest reason I wont recommend the game is solely because of QoL and Polish. There are A LOT of times where the gameplay felt clunky and unrefined. Your player has no stats that really improve compared to the dinos, movement can bug out frequently, terrain has some very awkward invisible cut off points, targeting can be a royal pain, etc etc. They have been improving on small aspects like that but it may ultimately be a good while before it feels better. It definitely wouldn't hurt to try now but I would wait a few more months or for any potential content updates before getting hopes up.
I'm regional, so the discount in this sale still makes it an expensive buy. I bought a farming sim/magic game for considerably less that even when released was "better" quality - looking strictly at quality & not "ooh dinosaurs" - than this, & has had massive content added in the few months since release.
From what I see in this demo, & the way discussions here have gone, it looked like this was still some way from really feeling "finished", & I had issues with the semi-3D visuals (movement) making me dizzy from the start. I really had to work at it to get comfortable with moving, especially as it is keyboard operated (mostly) rather than mouse. (If you don't have a controller, & I always broke the joysticks from being too rough, so I'm guessing I'd do it to a controller, too...)
