You get all these bowls from Avery, by playing his Town Board mini-quests and thus pushing his friendship values. You first get the seed bowl, then the harvesting bowl, finally the watering bowl.
I actually only needed to place a seed and then later a harvesting bowl next to 3x3 - 2 (open horseshoe layout) land:
Note you can assign up to two small dinos to each bowl, I just assigned one to each bowl, and that was enough.
Interestingly, you could also till the soil using a dino, but that also does not seem to be required. Tilling the soil yourself is fine.
Finally, once you assign the small dinos to a bowl, you will be able to watch them do their "chores"... just as a test to check if thing are actually working.
