Why was Lucky chosen as the main dino?
We wish we had a better answer other than it's always been Lucky and we've never for a second considered another dino as she has always just felt perfectly right.
She is an embodiment of what Paleo Pines is all about - friendship and exploration. Even after years of developing the game, we still feel happy when we look at her and that's the emotion that we hope is shared by others when they play!
Is there any promotional content?
Not yet, but we hope there will be. Not DLC but we are working on some surprises.
Is there anything permanently missable, even rewards for fulfilling specific conditions?
Nothing aside from cases where this is desirable. For example: Granny comes to your ranch the day after you receive your farming tools.
- If you haven't used the tools yet, she will give you a farming tutorial, and give you seeds.
- If you have already used them, she comments on how you seem to know what you're doing, and give you seeds.
- Either way you get seeds. But you can only see one of the two possible dialogues - the other is missable.
Is this game identical on all platforms, including the Switch version having an in-game achievement system?
Currently platform-specific features/meta features are only supported on a per-platform basis. Specifically there is not an in-game achievement system for Switch.
Are there any bonuses for having save data from a different video game?
There are no bonuses for other game saves at present.
How were different sounds chosen for dinos, and how were they created?
At first everything in the game beeped and booped, and the dinos sounded like instruments. This did not have... um... the intended result. It made all the dinos feel like robots. Then we decided to go a different way. We asked our paleontologist advisor Natalia for more information on what dino sounds actually sounded like. So we started looking at various different kinds of sounds, animal sounds, and synthesising sounds. This was also a dead end. The dinos sounded... well we’re not sure how to describe it. But definitely NOT cute. And then... we recorded Nina making cute dino sounds as an example of what she thought they should sound like... To be honest the quality was horrible! But! It set us on a new path. And since then, every dino has had their own dino voice actor. A lot of them were voice acted and recorded by Cassie (especially the tiny cute ones) and honestly she's done such an amazing job! We can't wait for everyone to hear them!
I was wondering if there's a certain number of color combinations each dino will have, like if they will all have 5 or some will have 6 or some will only have 2?
We’re aiming for around 8 colours for every dino but it's possible some might get more than others. Some dinos will also have multiple patterns on launch. Not quite as many as we would like, but we had to draw the line. If you think dino patterns are easy - they definitely are much easier on paper in 2D than they are in 3D!
Do the dinosaurs have varying personalities or all pretty much the same depending on their species?
There are a few different personality types, and any species can have them. But the species themselves have got bags of personality in their animations. So for example all the gallis look so... bonkers. So if you get a lazy galli for example, it still feels a bit different compared to lazy therizinosaurs.
how big is the map?
how many species are there?
are dlcs planned?
I find it quite concerning (and a bit irritating) that no developers have responded to ANY of the threads on the Discussion page. I understand you guys are busy, but not everyone has/wants to use Discord just to be able to get answers to their questions.
– There are lots of things to discover.
– In the full game, you can visit 3 areas: valley, forest, and desert.
– There will be 38 species on launch.
– We would love to do DLCs post launch but it really depends on how the game goes. Right now we just want to make the game as good as we can on launch day.
Hope this helps!
Hope this helps!
What that means for me when i use the Demo Save that i start playing yesterday?
Any advice, i really want to play this game but i'm not sure if I can like this.
