I see you are having issues with E-Pulse Troopers. Firstly, let's try calming down a bit despite how frustrating this may be and hear me out for a bit.
There are a few mechanics that are pivotal to Terran Command's general gameplay you must understand. This mechanic is the Line of Fire mechanic. If a unit is behind another unit, they will not fire as units cannot fire though teammates generally with some exceptions such as Snipers. If your troopers are in another troopers' way when bugs assault, you'll end up having squads not attack as they do not have clear line of fire to the targeted hostile.
Now that's out of the way, let's look at the E-Pulse Troopers individually: they have VERY LOW range of fire. You MUST be closer to the enemy before they can shoot their targets. Much closer than Rifle Squad Troopers. When you click on a unit in the game, you'll notice a white ring on the ground around that selected unit. This is not aesthetic. It tells you exactly how far that unit's weapon's range is. If hostiles are not within that white circle, the unit cannot shoot them. Simple as that.
Now before you call foul regarding the usefulness of E-Pulse Troopers, know that many of us like E-Pulse Troopers. They are very fantastic troopers if you use them correctly. Do not be afraid of putting them in the heat of battle because their range is short for the very reason that they do a LOT of damage. They eat up Tiger Bugs, for example. A feat Rifle Squads cannot even dream of. If their range was the same as rifle Squads, they'd simply deprecate Rifle Squad units because they'd be better in every way. The idea is that they do a LOT of damage but have short range.
So don't worry about "Being too close" because they do a lot of damage. Get them positioned properly and get them in the front lines and you'll see a drastic change in their behavior.
If you still don't believe me and think they are useless then YOU are doing something wrong because practically everyone in this Discussions sections will tell you otherwise, both professional and casual players. I'm not saying this to discourage you. The opposite, actually. If you think it isn't working for you then change your tactics and heed my words because it DOES work and they are certainly not useless.
E-pulse do well while pairing with MK2 trooper since those guys can shred scorp from long range while E-pulse don't struggle vs Tiger plus they still can beat warriors easily just like MK1 but less range .
E-pulse is still okay againts flyers but not as good as MK1 lvl still better than MK2.
Their special ability is meant to be used againts royal guards, scorpions or tankers or when they would die anyway.
And it is best for 1 to use it while others just use the default fire then cycle them when needed.
All of them using at once usually backfires.
They also have an ignore line of sight skill but -20% attack speed which is very useful to aid other indirect fire squads like rocket and such when fighting bugs uphill so they can fire earlier.
Did not try their other skill.
And as abover positoning is very very important otherwise most units can not fire if a frriendly is in front of them.
Game is very micro heavy just attacking moving is usually bad by itself you need to take units into good line of fire positons especially if you play on brutal difficulty.
Game indicates is unit is"green" yellow" or "red" basically roughly how many soldiers in the squad can fire.
Also, you do know that the game has a line of sight mechanic? You should have learned about it by the time you get to the e-trooper level. Your unit won't fire at the bugs if you have another unit directly in front of their line of sight.
That makes sense.
Except that the mission that drops them prevents you from calling in regular troopers so you ONLY have the E troops... ya fun!
