Please use the score from the first movie
Please please please use some of Basil Poledouris's score in the game. Especially the iconic "Klendathu Drop" in large bug attack waves. I will pay more for the game if its was in the game :)

Its actually a bit strange that they didnt. When I think of a starship trooper game the theme from the first movie always pops into my head. Just feels right so its a bit strange not hearing it at all in the game.

Couldn't agree more, I'd love that! I find it a little jarring strangely, not to hear the original music. Especially during the Federal Transmissions

I've been listening the Klendathu Drop song all the time I played the demo, but yeah it's needed in the game!

They used it in their trailer so I imagine they will eventually put it in, I don't think they'd have licensing & copyright issues with the music when they already have permission to make a game with the IP

You can have those issues. Usually the score licensing and the movie licensing go different ways.

The score rights are (if not sold) owned by the composer or the publisher of the score, while the movie rights are from different people/companies.

In this particular case, i think that the score rights are owned by Zoe Poledouris (Basil's daughter).

I mean, if they got the permission to use in the first SST TC trailer, surely that would mean they have the permission to use the same score in the game too?

You can pay/license for a single use or even have permission just to use it in some way (trailers) but no other ways (final game). There's a lot of movie trailers with music from other movies.

Anyway, i do really hope they get they hands on this. No Poledouris = no party.

Or at least, if they don't finally have the option to use licensed music, they should give us the option to do it by ourselves (custom Mp3 music option or something like that).

The music from the movie is SO important in this particular case. It's like creating a Indy Jones or a Star Wars game with no reference to John Williams's scores.....

Because they likely did not get permission and why it's not used now.

Using music for a trailer is one thing, using music for a game is a completely different story.

When you license music for a trailer, you just pay the copyright owner an one-time fee, and that's it.

But in-game music is another story. Because the product is constantly generating revenue while featuring that song (while the commercial ad does not generate revenue) so it usually involves royalty contracts that will last for years. It may have expiration dates, the ownership of the copyright may change hands and the new owner may not want to make a new contract, etc.
Have you noticed how so many big AAA games are randomly pulled from Steam all the time? It's not that random. In 99% of cases, it's because they contained copyrighted music whose licenses expired.

Licensing music for a game is an absolute hell. I completely understand if the devs just make their own music for the game. If Klendathu Drop is so important for you, then just play it on Youtube on the background, nothing is stopping you from that, I would honestly prefer to see the devs putting their budget on more important stuff.

um the trailer doesn't have the music from the movie. its music that kind of sounds like the movie music.

"Klendathu Drop" the movie theme https://youtu.be/CIGHCoVzqtk
