Chapter 2, stuck (again) on 4th puzzle

Thanks Clem for your help last week. It got us through as we had not even thought to move the paintings around and find the one we needed.

We managed an entire 3rd clue on our own and he is where we are now:

We are "under the black veil (there are 2 of us), and we believe we know what we're supposed to do. There are 3 masks for four X's, so we put masks on 3 of them (they are correctly "used, we believe) and tried standing on/near the 4th, with the other person wandering all around the map looking to see if something changed (including on the bear/rabbit stone). We haven't found squat.

The 4 X's we think we need to use are the snake, the fish, the shrimp, and the one closest to the clock. (I took out the recycling and lost my notes. In case we were wrong about these choices we also tried the stone near the portal, as well as the eagle which doesn't look like the map but we have tried everything we can think of.

What are we doing wrong or missing?

We loved the first scenario, and I recommend this game to all my friends who are missing live escape rooms. But tbh this 2nd room is proving more frustrating that rewarding.

Hello there,

Here are more hints, you are so close!
You have 3 good animals out of 4. Think aquatic animals :) These are the ones marked on the map.

With black veil enabled, you can replace the mask onnthe rocks and stand there, since you are a mask, so you could be 1 mask + 3 players on rocks for example, or 2+2 etc.

Ah Chapter 2 has been a 50/50: some hate it, some love it.

I will do my best for the next room, I understood my mistakes on Chapter 2, I'll make Chapter 3 closer to Chapter 1, with some nice surprises ^^.

I'm gonna be honest, we did this already. We're back at again today and your clue didn't help at all. We already were standing on or put masks on serpent, fish, shrimp, and octopus. We've also tried the others in case these were wrong. Nothing is happening.

My friend thinks we just aren't clicking on the right thing, but we've been banging away for about 90 minutes between two days. You can go ahead and just tell us exactly what to do. Honestly this is so frustrating I don't even care if we finish, but my friend does so we plug along.

There is a bug maybe? If you stand on the rocks with black veil enabled, you should unlock this puzzle.

What you could try is to put 3 masks on 3 rocks and only 1 of you hop the 4th rock, wich black veil on.

Is there a way I could join you in your next session? I want to see the bug if there is one.

Or please if it still doesn't work, press F11 and send a bug report after trying, I will the game's logs and maybe I can spot where the bug is.

Sorry about that, it must be frustrating.

I did this one just last night. We put masks on shrimp snake fish and I stood on octopus. if it helps I placed them while in the veil, and stood on octopus while in veil. I very specifically walked up onto the rock from the sloping part, and it triggered as I reached the top.

Tx, maybe we'll try again someday. We just gave up on it, felt like a bug in the game. TBH this room had a TON of bugs for us, objects were floating all over the place, and when we went back in a 2nd time some items were on the ground instead of on the desk (as an example). But ty for the advice. I may try solo, my friends were extremely frustrated with the experience.

I'm sorry that the experience was frustrating for you and your friends.

The game has been worked on a lot since you played, I can guarantee you that you will not get stuck anywhere, Also Chapter 3 has been added for free :)

Hey, I just went trough the same puzzle with a friend and got stuck in the exact same way that OP did. My friend was wearing the wolf mask and I was hearing one of the four rabbit masks. I ended up breaking the stalemate by switching around which rock I was standing on (as opposed to placing a mask on top) and it finally triggered the solution when I stood on the fish rock. When I was standing on any of the other three rocks (with the three masks always filling the rest), the solution would not trigger.

I decided to solo it to see the end, and Pink Stripes' solution worked. But obvs it's kind of wrong that you have to stand on one exact spot and not any of the others for this to work.

I loved chapters 1 and 3, now that I finished 2 I still really dislike it :(

just ran into the issue with the bunny mask, have tried everything we can think of but we spawned with 4 bunny mask plus the bunny mask my friend is wear and nothing is working, we are kinda assuming we shouldnt have spawned with 4 mask
