It's no secret that we've had delays, which we've tried to be as open as possible about. We've just got through an incredibly difficult development period including the ending of publisher support and downsizing our team. We are fortunate to continue development, especially with everything happening in the industry, however, we're trying to get back on track as quickly as possible and make up for lost time. The community's support during this time has been really appreciated!
As for updates, we're working as hard as we can to get the game in a strong position for both Alpha and Beta testing and this will inform our release so we hope to offer more concrete dates and information then. A lot is going on all at once and some areas aren't easy to demonstrate (especially tech, tech design, level design, QA testing or bugfixing) while trying to avoid spoilers. That's why we've given more focus on showcasing the art, animations and audio instead. We've been posting monthly to give development updates, especially to backers and our Steam audience who we realise have been waiting in anticipation. We're looking forward to showing far more gameplay and dinosaur content but are working hard to ensure it's in a good place to do so. In the meantime, we've been sharing more behind-the-scenes content on Deathground's social media.
Once the alpha (private) playtesting period with some of our Kickstarter backers is over, we will have a better idea of dates for the roadmap ahead!
It takes years to build a complex game and this one has been in closed testing for months and the devs recently showed off 3 of the 5 launch maps and 4 playable characters lol they even said the other 2 maps will be close tested "soon"
Thats quite open and honest. While it may still fail it really does not look likely that you wont get at least 5 maps and 4 player characters at some point this year...
Such impatience haha i've backed several titles via crowd funds and they all took between 3-7 years to fully deliver...but you get to play them all the way along the journey. Now i didnt back this game however im interested in it as its similar to another i did back, which is fully completed and was popular enough to get a sequel without any crowd funding required.
If you want indie dev hell go look at project zomboid, 10 years of dev time with little polish
Or the infamous star citizen, the most expensive game never finished...over 20 years and billions of dollars thrown at it for little more than a empty space trucker flight sim.
The project zomboid devs didn't publish a game with a demo that lied and abandon it 3 months after launch without fixing it...Gun Jam has already kneecapped their credibility.
I understand the work it takes to make a complex game and such and if you read the post originally i stated, you would see that ive kept up with the progress, news, etc. The others posting with i get are upset as much as i am for the "Alpha test" was closed to thous who helped with the kick starter. But even they have been waiting for such a test by the post i have read. I stated if that if the team split up that happened put them in a set back then possibly opening up the kick starter again and being more on schedule with the posts and possible some the game play might be a little helpful. The developers have post to my post already and i have only stated that we want to support and not be left in the dark. The community is restless, they are asking for more info on the progress, and we only wish for the best of the game.

We've announced that Deathground will be released this year!
