PC2 does have "legs" due to the editor and skirmish. Still, I agree. This game even runs better despite being more graphically intensive.
Just finished the France mission and only encountered a few minor glitches. The cut scenes are a great addition between battles.
Having played panzer strategy i was a bit concerned if this title would be what was promised. So far i would say the developer has delivered. Looking forward to playing the rest of the game.
Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg: It is not a rip from the Panzer Corps 2 but it is pretty close.
Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg has a more realistic supply, better graphics, real equipment units, special abilities, real aircraft carrier options with graphics on track and animation even at airfields, best primary and secondary objectives in the campaign.
Panzer Corps 2 the only very good thing is the change of camouflage, a good zoom and an easy stage editor, otherwise very flow than expected, it is a bad purchase, in addition to a bad forum service to people and modders.
I would say SM really needs a major debugging and polishing before I wqould say iot is a PK2 winner.
In my view, 'If' the Devs can create an option to 'fade out' the Info overlay in SM: Blitzkrieg, but not loose it as the info is awesome, plus they can offer some system to their already excellent unit modification interface to add camo options, then I think the game is best in class at that point. But it is a big 'if'..
I remember asking for features like capital ship detail in the PC2 forum around the year ago - and finding exactly what we wanted in strategic mind.
The '+' for Strategic Mind is its level of detail. I've played no other wargame outside of the classic hardcore games from Grigsby, Koger and co. that attempts to deliver a fun gaming experience but also attempts to represent the strategic and tactical challenges of the specific scenario. This is both its blessing and the curse of SM, depending on what you are looking for. Gamers looking for a straight forward RTS are gonna curse it, War Gamers, may well like it, as I do.
For me however the biggest drawback of the SM Series is the tactical and movement overlay. It is way too bright and garish and puts many people right off before they even get their heads around the game.
Now that we have a modding community, I would love to see an offering that fades back the tactics and movement overlay so that it doesn't obscure the lovely models and 3-D terrain but retains the value the overlay adds.
I really like this game but the night turns are killing my enthusiasm to play the game. Whenever it's night, I'm at the point of just wanting to skip the entire turn. That and the map overlay.
