Well you can fine some players on weekends from 17:00-6:00 CET, but I recommend you to download the mod for RO and that is Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45. It is more alive, much better game with developers still updating it, which is amazing for an old game. And the best part, you can play it every day with one of the best gaming communities! Hours to play are the same with RO, from 17:00-6:00h CET, but here every day. On average there are 100-150 players, with weekends up to 200. :)

just stay away from Darkest Hour,one server has the no fun police and allied biased maps,other server has autism,beggers,devs that are killing the game,5384957348574723892384238423 Stavelot or foggy map clones and one sided maps,plus some extras

Ill have a look now and see what the specs for DoI are but this game looks like it will run fine,that actually why I ask....I tend to just staty away form the newer games for this reason

I should be able to run RO 2 also,I checked the specs and seem to be fine,is there a much bigger player base in RO2? Also do these go on sale often?

I don't understand why RO2 is more active than this. Compare the maps and guns, this seems much more detailed. Wish the population of RO2 would migrate here.

Well I miss the greater emphasis on vehicles and some of the really huge custom maps from RO1 but both games have their advantages.
