Well you aren't suppose to keep upping the difficulty if you don't have the cards and passives to do them. So your answer/solution is, you played a class that wasn't ready, so lower the difficulty until you are. I went up to difficulty 4 with my wyrdhunter and respectfully got my butt kicked trying Diff 5 as my necro because I didn't have the cards or passives to really make him shine. Now? I do.
You dont unlock cards in a specific order, its completly random.... So you might got after 1 run the most Important Cards. Beside that one of the Base Card Pool Summoner Cards is a 1 Energy "Redirect Dmg" Card, which is the trick to Beat Harvester or other Encounter which requier you to focus. Because of the Card Effects the Random Attacks doesnt matter anymore. Your second Option simply is Bring out a Golem, Barrier him and keep him alive, and bring a Abomination, Promote her to 5-6 Level and let her do 2-3-4 Attacks(depending on your own Dmg) and win the Encounter that way. - So right from the Start without any Unlocks you got 2 Ways of Beating the Encounter.... He is still hard yes, but not impossible like you think .
You played wyrdhunter as everyone did, so you had cards unlocked for pathfinder off the get go. Where as summoner, blood mage and necro, all have to be unlocked separately. Starting off with pathfinder with the card that gives two block, in unison with pathfinder's insight is literally OP because for 2 energy, you get 4 block. Pretty much makes early game irrelevant and the card is, as you can guess it, a early unlock from wyrdhunter.
