hero/character creation
this game would be perfect with character creation along with customizing skills instead of a heroes with fixed set skills. i love the arts but i don't want to roleplay a whole game with a hero i don't like. is there any custom hero creation like pathfinder kingmaker?

I agree, but I believe its based on a board-game, so its likely to use pre-determined - "not quite up to Arthurian Knight status." I just wish I could find more fluff on the word, and descriptions of the characters that are available!

We'll have more info on all this soon!

In the campaign - certianly for our Early Access launch - we're going to stick with Beor and Ailei (we have plans for Maggot and Arev, too).

But you can believe me folks that I - personally - feel you 100% and I'd take a blank slate over a predefined character every time I can. I can't promise anything right now when it comes to the campaign -- it'd just be a tremendous amount of work to make it all happen - but I definitely would like to have customizable blank slate in the campaign :)

HOWEVER stay tuned for the update next week! :)

yeah after some research about the board-game i reach that conclusion too. it's too bad i just can't enjoy preset characters anymore. every preset character looks like repetition of another games characters to me

I feel that way about 99% of the time, if there are around 25 preset archetypes, I can usually find one or two that are so close to what I'd make that I'm good. I was fascinated with how much I love the game Gloomhaven, but they managed to make such weird/terrible looking characters that I have zero interest in sticking with it!

that sounds great! at least you guys consider to make blank slate character. hope you guys find the best way to implement it.
i know creating a new system for predetermined game is difficult so i understand if you guys decided to stick with predefined characters.
good luck! i definitely keep an eye on this game development

Dude, I can promise you that I'll buy this day 1 if there is any semblance of character creation! Even if I just mix and match what's out there and can name my "not quite Arthurian status" protagonist!

BTW- I do want to say that the setting is about the closest to archetypes that I like that I've seen in preset characters, the problem is the two guys I like (Sloan, and someone else...) don't seem like they're very popular!

yeah the game itself looks good but i dislike playing with pre defined characters. i dont think i buy it right now

There are 2 predefined character in the game's campaign (Ailei/Beor) and a first version of the character creator in our Conquest mode :)

Just as an FYI, this post got me to buy the game. I already LOVED the mood of the world, but it didn't quite have a character I was in love with. Thank you (1000)

Wow! Please let us know what you'd like to see in the character creator, though! It's our first attempt at making one and we're open to all suggestions. Do you need more hair colors, hair styles, beards, tattoos? We can add all that - it's just we don't know what people actually want to be able to do with their characters! :D

My initial thoughts on character creation-

+- The atmosphere is about perfect for me, so just being able to play a custom character in this atmosphere scratches a huge itch!

- I'd like one or two more neutral hairstyles- just long hair, or even close-cropped. The current options for hairstyles scream very specific types of people to me.
- I *feel* like the direction of the art and game world would benefit from scars or tatoos for custom pcs.
- I really wanted to choose some critical flaw for my character, in the same way that the board game seems to offer...why wasn't my pc quite of the cut to be in Arthur's knights?

I hope that there is a victory, or "victory" to play towards in the endless mode...I'm really picky about characters that I enjoy playing and probably won't play the campaign much- I feel like a jerk saying it and will try to make up for it by suggesting it to my friend who loves playing the Gruff Blacksmith and the other that loves the Wyrd shifty druid...(Whole reason I don't play JRPGs)

Also, and I know this might not be the place to ask it, but why am I fighting random human people in the Wyrd (wouldn't they just be scared and want rescuing) ? They seem to be the same type of people as me...is there game-fluff I can read about, or do I find out in-game?

my complaint about character creation is we can't edit how old our character looks. sometimes i like to create old witch but sometimes i like to create youth warrior. the rest is same stated as above post.

this game is great for now but i think this kind of game is best featured with a mod support. that way anyone who doesn't interested with the game style maybe in future there is a mod to that. heck maybe there is many custom conquest mods in the future.

conquest mode right now is too small i think, need more variation. it will be better if the bosses randomized too, i can always counter build the bosses with any class rn because i alrdy knew what kind of bosses i'm going to face. a variations of bosses made players need to improvise and adapt how they build their hero.
