Is this a new game? Why PS2 graphics?
Hello everyone,

Is this a completely new game or is it a re-release of an old game on a previous gen console? The graphics look like PS2 graphics so I'm just wondering. Thanks.

It's a 2018 game. Falcom just isn't a huge AAA company.
The engine they used for these games wasn't very good... but thankfully they finally coded a new engine and will be using it for Kuro no Kiseki... which we may see around 2023.

How rude. At least say that the graphics in this game are PS3 quality.

It's not a troll post, I thought it was a new game, was on the steam page and thought I'd do a quick post. It really does look like a PS2 style JRPG.

They released the PS4 version in October 2020 outside of Japan, but yes this is the first time it's hit PC.

Is this serious? If so, you might want to get a refresher on what PS2 games actually looked like.

Maybe get your eyes checked, PS2 graphics are way worse than this.

cold steel series started on the ps3 so they've sort of been on the same engine for basically the whole series, understandable since Falcom isn't Square Enix with unlimited budget, It's anime style so the the simple and clean textures and models look fine to my eyes.

technically cs1 and cs2 were developed to run on not just the ps3 but also the vita on day one.
