So your guess that you failed to get a unique quest monster seems like a solid choice.
Check that all monters in your notebook have the check next to it's name.
I did , and by the time you fight Osborne your count must be missing 7 entries: Osborne (just once), Ishmelga (autocompletes itself), each of the 3 heads of the true ending boss, and the 2 different monsters the middle head spawns (one weak to normal element arts, and other weak to higher elements)
That sucks. I just checked and yes, there's 6 of them :/
I've completed my first playthrough on Nightmare so now i can get these two monsters in speedrun mode. plus there a few more character profiles to get with bonding events and there are also bonding event achievements.
