No. See now, that's modern day socio-political views talking, and it's making a lot of assumptions.
Who is to say that the life two people have been through both together and/or separately hasn't prepared them mentally for a relationship even at their ages?
I know this a slippery slope for me to be on - or to "die on" as some say - but I feel it's worth pointing out when we aren't willing to look past what modern day society has told us is unacceptable.
Now I'm not trying to say morality is bad or anything, it helps prevent us from doing, thinking and saying things that go too far, but those said things aren't concrete and change with the times. And I personally feel the idea that once both parties are adults - which mid-teens are to much of society - age should not longer be a relative factor in considering a relationship.

Other party members standing still while the player character is fighting looks kinda weird, but there probably won't be much of that. I assume the real-time segment is generally only for weak mobs that you can take out in a few hits. In that sense, the core mechanics are not much different from before except for the seamless transitions from running in the field to fighting.
Edit: I can't decide whether I'll support the new couple until I see them in action. But up to this point, I've shipped pretty much all Trails canon couples, so I don't expect that to change here.
