What's the rule/pattern when it comes to clearing growths?
Do you need shovel guys working worm farms for it to recharge or does it do that anyways?
How do you know some sides won't get attacked in later nights? Is it from clearing all the growths?
What's that engineer perk for fixing generator? I see flaming barrels.
damn, the top review says that the game is a micromanagement nightmare, the second or third top review says its impossible.
usually when i hear that a game is impossible, i check for speedruns, speedrunners are the ultimate tacticians in gaming.
regardless, i was watching you play, but i am not sure what is the thought process of what you are doing, you prioritize food, you kill the eggs for some reason, i see that you let some basic workers beyond the wall to get a free hit on incoming enemies, buti am not entirely sure whats happening, have you thought of writing a guide?
being that you came up with many strategies i think it would benefit the player base a lot, furthermore the guide followed by a review discrediting the game's current "impossible" status, with this stream linked it would benefit the game/devs/community there of, not that you need to do this to this to that, but, its something you could that would likely have positive results all around.
cheers, not that impossible apparently.
yeah this aspect of running from left to right non-stop seems a bit tedious, there is a train track right next to the character, we could potentially use a mini wagon to make a quick transport of sorts that goes from one tip to the other(strictly one tip to another), the problem with that idea is that the tracks are already occupied.
other games avoid this issue by using a door to door transportation system, in here it would be like entering a tent and exiting through another.
that sorta stuff might mess with balance, but for the sake of fun, i think its something to consider.
80% of the game is basically learning how far you can stretch every day and how far you can explore/clear before you need to retreat. But ya, the back and forth is tedious.
i mean i am playing the demo, and i still haven't beaten it, going for my fourth try :l
not sure how easy it is supposed to be.
I'd like to make sure i get the strategy cemented on nightmare before i do anything like a guide, because i've only beaten it once and yet to try it again.
Tips i can give is clear the right side small eggs to make sure no attacks get done until it gets connected with the rest of it.
Then you will be able to focus on the left side a lot more, there are a lot of scrap lying around on the left side towards the infested side, every resource is needed to make the mission get as much success chance as possible.
Also, for destroying growths.
Your men will not be capable of protecting the walls themselves when it comes into mid-game, 10+ days and not many stalkers acquired yet.
So in order for them to be able to protect the sides, you're going to have to kill some of the growths so they spawn less eggs, which allows less enemies to come at the units and allows you to focus on the other side.
For early game, you want to grab most of the items possible from left side, so you want to tell your men to harvest during the night while you protect them by standing a bit farther ahead due to the early nights bearing low amount of enemies.
Hope that helps.
it does, i bested the demo on my fourth try, almost failed though, the...uhm... aliens? crushed each barricade in 2- seconds each, i placed all my men on the left side, and out of 9 men, 7-8 died, i used the tactic i saw you use in stream of rushing behind the enemy and back-shooting them, that helped a bit, but it was very overwhelming.
when you say that some growths should be killed, do you mean kill just ones exclusively of one side? if i kill all growths on one side, do the aliens stop coming from that side? or at least the more powerful ones? like the little ones that explode the barricades? if i can inquire further on such tactic?
Little bombers seem to come at your wall regardless if there are overgrowths left or not, it's like a way to test your defenses. However, clearing one side completely means no enemies will spawn outside of the occasional bombers, almost giving you a free pass on that side. (Keep one stalker and engineer with miniguns to keep it up just in case)
alright, i just picked up the game, so i will try these tactics when i next launch it.
The only time you will get an artillery early game is at Day 5 and Day 7, Level 2 and 3 outgrowths have a chance to spawn an artillery from their small eggs.
