idle production

what causes idle production (resources not xp) to go up? I thought it was defeating levels made it go up, but after prestige it dropped back down and after starting one level and dying it went up to like 53000 per second but after defeating other levels and winning it stayed the same. So what do i do to make it go up?

Completing Wave 100 in Normal Mode or surviving 60 in-game seconds in Endless Mode with a higher Resources/Sec than your current Idle amount will update it to that amount.

Also note that XP and income are two separate things; you can see your current stats in the idle mode production screen, and the highest rate you've achieved after the most recent prestige is used for each.

Some maps are easier to "bump up" for one or the other, so bounce around a few maps and difficulty levels to get a good spread to choose from.
