get energy regen cd asap, might also take a level or 2 of energy regen. you don't need a lot of damage since plasma is quite strong, so if you need it, you can get health a bit earlier
use mechanic pilot for shield skill
max energy regen delay
put few points in to energy regen until you comfortable with it
get level 5 and 10 upgrades if you need
put points in to damage to make sure you oneshoot everything except big laser ships with a direct hit (at all times, preferably)
level shield cd
level hp and shield amount (more or less evenly)
Well, I can't really add anything else besides stating the obvious:
- Try to avoid the attacks (especially the Boss' laser, unless you activate Adaptive Armor) **and blue clouds** (they give you Slowness; other clouds don't matter as much ~~or at all~~).
- Remember that you have skills. (Shield may help you survive; Shotgun, as I said, covers the sides; Adaptive Armor ~~needs upgrades to be useful, don't bother with it~~ is also quite useful even at 0 upgrades, since while it's active, it forces Health Regeneration on, meaning it heals you on every hit. (_Probably the best counter to the Boss' laser..._))
Here's an actual tip:
- Try to use Captain with it, since Shotgun doesn't use Energy and covers the sides pretty well, but Mechanic for Shield and _maybe_ the LV30 upgrade isn't so bad either. This weapon is powerful enough, though, so the LV30 upgrade might not matter as much.
Maybe I can give my recommendations on the upgrade path: 3/5 Energy Cooldown -> 3/10 Energy Regeneration (I ignore Energy Siphon with this weapon as it feels like it doesn't give me enough Energy to matter; you also run out of starting Energy at level 3) -> 5/5 Energy CD (you have 2 minutes to upgrade energy - after that laser shooters spawn) -> 7/10 Power (so that you one-shot everything with an explosion and a Shotgun bullet without any Shotgun power upgrades; you only need 3/10 Power to one-shot with a direct hit) -> any other upgrades are up to you. I strongly recommend maxing out Energy Regeneration, though. _You don't want to be attacking slowly, do you?_
(Mechanic's Max. Shield scales with your Max. Health: `50% + 10%*number of Max. Shield upgrades`.)
(09/XI/2024) With Captain, though, I like to do this instead: 1 Power -> use Shotgun to hopefully destroy all visible asteroids (would give 1 level with 4 of them destroyed) -> 2/5 Energy CD -> 3/10 Energy Regeneration -> 5/5 Energy CD -> 7/10 Power -> 10/10 Energy Regeneration -> 5/5 Shotgun Cooldown/Projectiles -> other upgrades.
i don't feel like converting from discord formatting to steam formatting, here's every tip i could find
As for combat, focus on the missile launching ships and the ships that fly into you. Go out of your way to kill them fast, as they are much more of a problem if you let them live than if you have to take a risk to pick them off early.
But honestly once you get your weapon maxed you should probably have no issue at all unless you really screw up, so it doesn't matter what you put points into after that.
