Save Game Errors in v0.8.4 B1

IMPORTANT:

Fixed in v0.8.4 B3!
Make sure to update your game, but also if you're still running it - exit it from Town via alt+f4 and DON'T exit from main menu

If it's broken try this first:
make a backup of your local save file and then delete it. (localsave.slot.0.sav)
Located here: %userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Fire Sword Studios\The Perfect Tower II\saves
now start the game and try to load from cloud => if that works great

otherwise check if you have a .bak.sav file in the save game location and rename it to localsave.slot.0.sav

We're aware of at least 3 incidents where save games were only partially loaded in the new version. (buildings and some other progress reset, but modules, resources and so on stayed)

If this has happend to you please let us know and send us your log files "player.log" and "player-prev.log" located at "%userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Fire Sword Studios\The Perfect Tower II"!

We'll do our best to help you get your lost progress back!
If you can load from cloud do that, because it seems this only happens with local saves.

Update:
Reverting to v0.8.3 also caused some issues.
If you were affected go to your save location now and rename the .bak.save file to .save! This should restore your progress if you lost it from going back to 0.8.3!

Because of that I pushed a new version to steam v0.8.4 B2!
Can't say that it won't cause the issue we had earlier, but at least it's not going to affect everyone which the downgrade seems to do.


Backup files that were made in v0.8.4 B1 are called .bak. If you lost progress via downgrading to 0.8.3 B4 that can be used to get your progress back.

Backup files called .bak2 are created in v0.8.4 B2 and can't fix that issue.


NEW UPDATE:
We might have an indication of what's causing the issue -> closing the game while inside the main menu seems to save a broken save
If you close the game pls alt+f4 from the town for now (make sure to manually save first)

I just got this problem going to latest update (update minute after posting) and the prior update from hour didnt cause it.
Anyway needed excuse to stop playing. this is it :). even if all I need to do is rename a file.

Thanks to the bak file i could get stuff back. Would have been back to lose part of my factory

Yep, lost progress. Then made the mistake of restarting the game to see if it was just a loading problem so pretty sure I screwed up the .bak file too...
