Looking to buy modules, need some advice
Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy the MGT2e (Traveller 2e) DLC for fantasy grounds, I was wondering whether they include the books in pdf form as well to read through normally outside of being integrated into fantasy grounds for play?

I already own some other books in pdf form too and was wondering how difficult it is or if at all possible to somehow "port" pdf things like items and art etc. into fantasy grounds? I'll obviously look into this more online myself but any help is appreciated.

None of the modules can be read outside of FG. The only exception relates to the Paizo DLC purchased. If you sync your paizo account with Smiteworks you either get the PDF in your Paizo account, or if you already own it in Paizo's store you get the price of the PDF as a discount off the FG DLC.

But you can get the Traveller PDF's from Mongoose.

I see, so I guess I'll have to buy the PDFs as well as the Traveller FG DLC to be able to read through things outside of FG as well as read and use the material to play the game in FG.
Damn, this hobby is expensive xD

While you can't read the modules and rule books without using FGU, when you click on the module tab, you will see the books you have loaded and they will have an option called "Reference Manual", this lets you read the book cover to cover as if it was a PDF, instead of trying to navigate it in the story tab.

It is a shame you can't run FGU on Android or IoS so you can read it on your phone when you're away from the computer.

That is indeed a shame, but I guess I'll wait to buy anything anyway, just discovered that I missed a sale recently, hopefully the books go on sale again, I'd love to buy multiple at once, I'll have to satisfy myself with the pdfs I already own for now.

Totally up to Smiteworks, but I'm pretty sure there has usually been (during COVID years) a 20-25% off sale over Easter. Also there are flash sales, sign up for the Fantasy Grounds weekly Junk mail and you will eventually see it on sale
"FG UNITY 50% OFF, 20% OFF D&D Spelljammer & Stormwreck Isle, Call of Cthulhu 7E, Flash Gordon RPG & More! - Fantasy Grounds VTT"

PS: Being a traveller player, you may be interested to Know that the Fantasy Grounds Academy run regular symposiums for Traveller and MadBeareded man who I'm pretty sure works for mongoose publishing is quite active in the Fantasy Ground Academy forum.

Thanks for the heads up Aussie Hope, I've joined the discord and will be looking into joining one of the symposiums perhaps. Although scheduling is a thing xD

Well, would it be gaming if there weren't RL scheduling conflicts? :D

They don't and I've discussed this very issue with one of the Mongoose Publishing staff. I had to buy the core rulebook 3 times (printed hardcover, PDF & DLC) and it cost me over $150 in my country's currency. Currently, to the best of my knowledge the only company that gives a free PDF for purchased DLC is Paizo publishiing. They can, because they allow you to sync your fantasygrounds.com account your paizo.com account - similar to how you can link a Steam account to fantasygrounds.

The staff member at Mongoose said they're willing and would like to support giving the PDF for free, as that's what they already do when you buy a print product from their webstore. They're just not sure how to do it, so I suggested they contact Paizo.

[Edit] As to copying & pasting from PDFs, I'm a big fan or it and do it often. It's easy for things like Creatures. NPCs or items - I can create one for just about any of the rulesest I own in less than 1 minute. How easy it is for main body content, depends upon how much formatting you want. FGU supports Headings, bulleted text, tables and font formatting, but none of that will come over in your paste. So if you want things to look nice & tidy in FGU, it'll be extra effort. You might also get a few odd text symbols here and there, depending on how text was formatted in the PDF.
