So I have been interested in this game for a long time, keeping my eye on it ever since the Discord release (the reason I never bought into it).

I was hoping to buy into the series on the Halloween Sale, but got confused by the existence of this product. I understand you need funding, but this seems like a bizarre and almost anti-consumer move to make. The original naming convention almost led to my purchase of this offshoot product, only for me to realize that this is like paying nearly full price for a beta build of the game with less content than the current iteration. WHAT.

I can sympathize with the lack of funding, times are hard all over right now, but this route just completely put me off, and I can't imagine that the word of mouth generated by this release will bolster your numbers. I do however hope that you can prosper with the series, so I wanted to pitch some alternatives.

There are other ways of securing good faith funding without alienating members of the community or splitting your meager playerbase. Deeprock Galactic comes to mind, what with their Supporter Edition Upgrade, allowing fans to throw cash at the developers for some basic golden skins, as well as their cosmetic packs, adding particularly interesting skins to a small microtransaction. It doesn't pain anyone to throw a little over five bucks at the devs to get a Legendary style skin to show off.

Maybe even speak to some other smaller devs about some sort of a crossover event, essentially merging the fanbase of two different franchises like Dead By Daylight does regularly. Sure you can't afford Stranger things, but maybe smaller horror devs would be willing to collaborate for cooperative profits.

I know those options REQUIRE your staff to be operational, so one alternative would be a Patreon: Allow your die-hard fans to chip in for your staffs costs, promising to add their names to the credits of the next update, maybe unique "supporter skins" for backing the devs eventually, having developer streams to increase fan interaction, and even having tiers high enough to allow high paying Patrons to personally request features, creatures, or ideas to the team. This could foster some goodwill with the community after this strange release while giving you the funds to continue development.

I genuinely hope that you can succeed and return to creating your vision, I just don't personally approve of your current practices.

Considering they already had a gofundme, or kickstarter what ever, and raised nearly x4 what they originally wanted, it would seem even more scummy to ask for even more money this way. They were also getting CMF funds via the canadian government for 4 years. So free money on top of free money on top of free money, and they still couldnt make the game work.

You wanted to give us a last new big patch for Halloween and it did not come! :/ I was hoping for just a bit of chapter two but there is nothing! :/

And the people who originally got the game on discord all those years ago? What about us? One of the most scumiest tactics I have ever seen from a game developer. Shame on you Elastic......shame on you :(

Yeah I have it on discord....sure....buuuut, this might bring me back to the game.
I will miss playing as one side or the other...but the Balance was SOOOOOO much better here.

P2p is fine if you have the player count to keep up with people from all around the world.

Having dedicated servers costs alot of money. Makes no sense to have servers for a dead game.

I'm hyped. I bought both versions. The one on discord when it was there and this one on here. This game is definitely better looking than DbD and has more potential. I Would look into licensing on both your current lineup of Fiends and think about reaching out for some licensed characters and maps just to sweeten the pot. Hell, you could even produce some statuettes which wouldnt be that hard since I can easily cast some with the 3d models to create a master.

WTF!? so yall are really making it two separate games forcing us to pay over 20dollars if we wana keep playing it? SCUMS! if we bought the first version we should automaticly be given this one!

I'm sorry... But many already purchased Last Year. And to not even offer a discount to those people, seems wrong to me. And not a good way to try a bring this game back.
I understand that the game has had a hard time staying above water. But that would be even more reason to be reasonable with your players that already had your back with Last Year.
Because, honestly.... $29.99 for the first version on discord, now brought to us after buying the version we got 1st here... Well, that is just a bit steep. Specially for a game that this very same thing may happen to again. Send owners a discount via steam and I am sure many will risk it. But during these times, during a pandemic as well. Sorry, I can not justify buying it again. </3
