How To Get Your Free Steam Key

So, you bought Last Year through discord, wondering how to get your free Steam copy but you aren't in the Discord server? Never fear! Follow the directions below to redeem:

If you bought a copy of Last Year: The Nightmare on Discord, you are getting a free Steam key for Last Year: Afterdark.

Here’s how to get your key:

1. Log into your Discord account (where you got Last Year: The Nightmare) on your desktop. Click the “User Settings” button (on the bottom left of the screen).

2. In “User Settings”, click the “Connections” tab (on the left side of the screen).

3. Look for the Steam icon in the top/middle box, labelled “Connect Your Accounts”. Click and enter your Steam credentials; this connects your Discord and Steam accounts.
Note: We strongly recommend only linking one Steam account.

4. After November 29th, launch “Last Year: The Nightmare” on Discord. When prompted, “Update” the application, then launch it and go to the “Settings” menu (in the bottom left corner of the main title screen).

5. In the “Settings” menu, click on the “Promo” tab (on the left of the screen). You will see a pop-up called “Steam Promotion” with details about how the Promo is applied. If you purchased the game on Discord or someone purchased it and gifted it to you, this will apply to you.

6. Press the “Check Key” button (in the centre of the screen).

7. You will be asked to log back into Discord; enter your credentials for the same account you logged into in Step 1.

8. Press “Login”.

9. When the “Connect to Discord” Last Year pop-up appears, press “Authorize”. This final step should authorize Discord to send a key directly into your Steam account.

If you do this before the launch date (December 10th, 2019), you will see the game in your library waiting to be downloaded. If you do this after the launch date, you will automatically begin downloading the game on Steam (according to your settings).

same problem here, bought the game early 2019 on discord. i wrote to the elastic games support on 9th of may and got no repsonse since then. Hope they will reply here?

The issue is present for anyone trying to redeem the Steam key at this point. You won't get anywhere with the support email or Discord, because the devs won't respond to email, and it takes them days to respond on Discord, where they'll only tell you to try the same things they've told the last 100 people, who all came back and reported that it didn't work. Then they'll simply throw up their hands and tell you it's an issue with Discord, because they either don't know what the actual issue is, or they simply don't care; possibly [probably] both. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be interested in any method of issuing the Steam keys, other than this stupid in-game promo, which doesn't at all work, so the bottom line is that, if you haven't gotten your Steam key yet, you will never get your Steam key, meaning you will never play this game again, unless you decide to pay them for the Steam version, and even then, the game is dead, so it takes 30+ minutes to even find a match for you, where you'll sometimes be stuck on a black loading screen, which times out and dumps you back in the lobby, or you'll get glitched in the game, if you do get in.

I refuse to buy it, mostly because the game is dead, and dying even more by the day, but majorly because they were supposed to issue free Steam keys, and did to some people, but others they just gave the middle finger to. Let it keep dying, I say.

Why don't they relist the game as free and rework the menu, and do what every free to play game does now a days and make a season pass thing free and premium style and make buy able cosmetics
