So I see they removed player numbers!
Things going pretty bad and they removed the player numbers? Sad to say but that's not good!

So at least we have Steam Charts

Watch out, someone's going to come in here and go "wait until they mention 75% :smug:", and then pretend they won or something.

Numbers don't show when they are below 300-400 hundred, but yes the game is sitting at below 10 percent of its launch playerbase, I pop on put a outpost up and then go play marauders. Once you hit champ there's not much point in raiding. and the playerbase is too small for me to want to grind raids to put out even more maps.

Hopefully the playerbase returns, they do a free weekend or the new updates add some more depth to the game.

The game has over 70,000 sales. It is sitting at below 0.5% of its playerbase.

lucky game doesnt rely on concurrent player base and is crossplay game then really

I mean if ppl keep raiding you and you keep having new bases then who cares.

Babies obsessed with player counts these days, its a pretty niche game tbh

I can't even play anymore due to crashing often since the patch and possibly many others, so this may cause allot of player drops atm.

This is an adorable take, but it's not what matters to us, it's what matters to the dev team to keep servers running and more content coming. It's not worth paying people to make games when only 300 people are playing them. It's a business, if a business stops having people come thru the door, they close down the shop.

My original concern in the OP is that I love the game and want it to succeed but the game hemorrhaging players should be of serious concern to all of us.

Granted and agreeable. Sadly though we can't really do much besides continue to play and wait for the Devs to sort it out.

In the short term like Hazard said it doesn't rely on concurrent players for it to function luckily. That being said it's like being alive and being on life support as comparable or equal, which obviously it ain't.

But like Icarus said hopefully the player base will return with some free weekend and major content updates.

Sure, except people aren't raiding me. I stopped putting bases up after several days in a row of only one or two people. On the other side of things, lower playercount means lower numbers of bases. If theres only 100 people playing then theres probably only 200 or 300 bases getting maintained if that many, won't take long for everyone to cycle through all the bases and they likely won't be prestiging so they'll be stuck smaller.

All I'm sayin is, I called this a couple of days before release and everybody was saying how samey meta base designs wasn't going to be a problem, that if everybody blocked everybody else's bases, there wouldn't be enough to go around wasn't a problem, the grind just to keep bases up wasn't going to be a problem.

All of these were problems that were blatant and pointed out in the beta, yet nobody listened, not even the devs. Then again this is BHVR we're talking about so can't say I'm surprised.

Glad I saved my money on this one

That was happening to people with like 5k players too tho. been an issue since release.

Its simple, less players = less bases to choose from so it shouldnt effect the base matchmaking

I mean I got 50 hours out of it. they will do sales and game might get better. or it might die like 99% of other live service games do. just have your fun and stop playin when bored. If devs made a game that gets boring after a while (which obviously this will and has for alot of ppl) then it will die regardless.

Fact is all this "dead game" rhetoric is just boring. if you play game and never look at player count then you wouldnt even notice, this aint a game that needs full servers to enjoy so who cares.

Yeah, they singlehandedly recoded the steam client without Valve noticing, to hide that the playercount fluctuates for a singleplayer/coop game.

Sounds logical.
Vivianite May 10, 2023 @ 11:06am
"removing player numbers" isn't something devs do, if a game has a threshold of players under a numerical amount it doesn't show in the community hub, they're still accessible through other mediums including steam itself
Icarus Falls May 10, 2023 @ 12:18pm
Yeah the game doesn't "need" more players, but it would be more fun as someone who mainly builds, you can tell less people are playing now than in the beta.

I really think it just needs a free weekend here and there, and some more stuff for raiders, as a builder I'm fairly happy with the tool kit we have, but I understand why a lot of people have burn't out. So long as this gets at least a few years support I think it will be just fine.

Hopefully the new update will lead to an uptick in players.
