Ingenious - I give this to people who manage to use things in a way I haven't encountered before or are able to perfectly predict my movements to secure a kill.
Artistic - I give this to players who attempted something more than segments of hallways with gotcha traps. Like if I can tell you spent 500+ points on blocks trying to make your idea work I will give you this
Brutal - Killboxes slogs. Simple as.
I wish we had more accolades to give out though, ye
This. And flat cubes or pyramids aren't "Artistic", put some real time into it. Ramps and windows, decorations and lights.
Which normally means I take a moment to think about the base I ran and reflect and say, why was it fun? Why was it brutal? Was there a certain setup of traps or room that made it brutal? What made it "artistic" to make me want to give it that accolade. All these are entirely subjective, which seems to be the point. Someone may think you're base is very artistic, some else may not. It's up to the individual. Some people get mad at how hard it was and don't give any accolades (I think that's a bit unfair, but to each their own).
Also, the more bases you run/create, the more exposure you get to these categories. What once seemed "artistic" or brutal now may seem less so once you've seen more brutal/artistic bases, you know.
I definitely do not give out accolades just willy nilly. Oftentimes I've noticed I don't give 2 I'll just give one of the categories.
Fun - default to this to top up for both accolades.
Ingenious - Fresh mechanics, special platformer tombs, funny wordplay, true 'gotcha' trap setups.
Artistic - Even a little tile variation, pixel art, cool entrance, cool shapes
Brutal - There was a section that was clearly packed with hazards and it made me sweat. Also a backup top-up with fun.
As the game progresses from beta to release to a week out, raiders seem to be getting stingier on handing them out. A lot of times as these UGC games go on, people stop caring about hitting the accolades button.
Unfortunately, if you want accolades right now, it's more about NOT doing certain things that people are getting hung up on. Judging by these forums, raiders are witholding them when they see:
-blocked tombs (unfortunately, probably includes them not being able to find the entrance to the tomb, so make sure it's highlighted)
-irretrievable ammo or tomb loot (plasma is hawt)
-killboxes (allergies to plasma sentinels seems to be the most severe)
-cubical buildings (they smell like killboxes)
-exploits (tread carefully if you're not sure if it's a bug or feature)
-anything tricky and deadly seen before (dead man's switch spam is so passe, armored warmonger in tight hallways is in)
No, it's not deletable, like bedrock. It'll make a loud humming sound when you're close to it. There will be 1 on small maps, 2 on medium maps, and 3 on large maps. As far as I know there is no situation where there is 0 tombs.
if a level gives me an actual hard time ill give it a brutal
ingenious for cleaver traps or for a uncommon use of traps/ able to make the player do what they want
artistic if it seems like yeah they put some thought into the block placement its kinda another bm one i like to use.
like imagine getting you super hard outpost beat in no time and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gives it a fun and artistic just seemed funny to me
It's funny you say that, because my map is a big pyramid and almost everyone who plays it gives an Artistic
I mean I've come across good pyramids. But it's not solely what makes them artistic. Might've been yours even.
