This encourages making bases that kill a lot of players as quickly as possible. The current meta is to make a kill room, just a cube/hallway that's filled with traps and enemies like one of those terrible and cheap Mario Maker levels. That seems to be the current meta and if you look through the forums and reviews you'll see its talked about a lot.
Technically the balancing factor is that bases also get accolades (likes) and that also gives rewards. So if people like your base enough they'll give it likes, maybe. But just doing the meta strat to farm kills is way more efficient and safer than relying on like donations from people.
In my opinion, mighty quest quickly developped meta builds because they were combinations of traps/minions that were REALLY insane.
Also, there was a real incentive to make an impossible base (and therefore, use meta) because raiders would steal part of your gold (and the other resource).
In MYM, unless you set your outpost as "overdrive", you lose nothing if the raider wins.
On top of that, there are no impossible trap combinations.
Just to add, there is a meta build but many seem to not do it right now
It's easy to get through. Deflect & bombs.
The problem with Might quest for loot is it became pay to win, you could just purchase with real life money overpowered traps.
At least so far this game doesn't seem to be going down that way. Even the worst kill rooms are something you can handle with the right equipment.
This.
