Edit: Making a pit with a lava block on the bottom of it is okay too.
But, you are probably right. The sweaty builders will make their dungeon unplayable in the same way as the sweaty raiders will use every cheesy tactic to win. And no one will listen. But there are people that make their creations actually fun. And if they want to make them even more fun, (well, atleast for me), they can listen to my recommendation.
You've got my vote!
removing player tools to make your traps hard is...idk it comes off kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just build better, make *limited* use of the "lose your ammo" trap-guard combos as well however
a sneaky trick though that a friend and I did is that we had a claw & dual-impaler around a corner with two guards and corrosive cubes; fire into the cubes and lose ammo, or melee and get grabbed by an unseen trap on first-attempt :)
Subsequent attempts always show people only die like, twice at most to it though
xD
But imo you'll have two types of buildings.
The rare "nice builders" who will make things for the art of experimenting, creating and stuff, and the average player who will build things to make them as deadly as possible.
This is what the game encourages you to do in the end, and rewards you for. You won't prevent such building techniques from raising. Imo the best bet would be to prevent certain things from happening.
For example I have seen the issue of exploding guards being thrown in an acid block through the cieling to fall on the player and explode as they just died. Something like this could maybe be simply prevented by making corpses float on acid blocks? Explosers wouldn't fall through on a player (especially used when triggering phase 2) and ammos used on ennemis who then fall in acid would be retrievable.
But imo you can't really blame players for making unfun designs if these work for what they are encouraged to achieve -> a high death rate. If techniques judged unfun happen, best bet is to nerf them.
And for anyone wondering the solid upgrade is so pitiful you can literally jump between 2 cubes forever and never die from the damage.
