talbot difficulty

did they update the game recently and add it? just played it a few days ago and noticed its literally a permadeath templar difficulty, which was literally what i was doing, yet it was never there before (been playing the game for like 9 years)

also, has anyone actually been able to beat the game on templar or talbot difficulty without dying? i attempted it and got to the final boss room then quit and haven't touched the save for like 9 months cause i'm too scared i'll die
