ok, idk if u get a ability later but u can destroy them if u fall from a high place into the water for momentum and smash into them
assuming u have the dive ability

I just got a sticky bomb upgrade that destroys the purple crystals.

The upgrade was the reward for beating a Cocoon boss in Overgrowth, which is east of Coral Fissure. The boss was east, then south, then west from the Overgrowth Transport station.

Those are coral blocks, not the amethyst-looking crystal barriers they're talking about.

Yeah, my bad. I finally got far enough to answer the actual question.

To destroy the purple crystal barriers, you need to propel through them at high speed, which can sometimes be done with fans on the map once you power them on.

But you also get an ability to dash across the map (like in Hollow Knight) in the Sunlight Dome Arboretum after defeating a Giant Worm boss in the northwest part of that area.

I think you need the wall climbing ability from the lava area to access it, but I'm not positive. I wasn't paying attention enough to notice if It might be possible to get there using bomb super jumps even without wall climb.

Edit: The air dash isn't working to destroy the above-water crystal barrier in the water basin area. I have no idea why.

2nd edit: Apparently, it was an extra-strong barrier that had to be broken by doing a momentum-physics puzzle.
