It’s a matter of taste for the most part. I personally don’t mind the low difficulty because there’s so many other positive qualities to the game like the tight controls, hilarious dialogue, colorful graphics, fun dungeouns and the exploration.
Any tips???
Dances make that a joke, especially if you have the monster card that refills energy. Start the dance as they're appearing so all you have to do is tap either electric dance or quake dance when all the enemies fully appear. Boom. Clear the screen. For red claw guys, you might have to do Quake dance twice. Rinse & repeat. There's not very many monsters you have to kill with your hair.
That would also explain why the dances essentially rob Seven Sirens of all its gameplay. They literally defeat the purpose of all of Shantae's other tools. No need for healing, a dance does that better. No deal to whip, a dance deals damage better. No need to use fireballs or spike balls or other ranged spells, a dance does that better (for less magic, no less). No need to search, a dance does that better.
I liked Seven Sirens, don't get me wrong, but I liked it a LOT more before I got the dances, and usually in Metroidvania's it starts out fun and becomes even more fun the more tools you get because, "Oh wow, I can reach new places with these actively usable new powers!" With Seven Sirens it's like, "Oh ... now I can go back to every single screen and push the same button to initiate the same dance animation four times times then watching the screen flash and a big thing appear for each one and then repeat for--ah, eff it. Screw 100% in this one."
If you wanna throw in a bit of challenge, never use food, potions only.
Oh yeah and play it blindfolded with one hand chopped off I assure you the game will become a completeeeeetly different experience!!
... on a controller that's not plugged in!
Well, it's a casual platformer. At least it doesn't have the insane difficulty spike that some of the older entries in the series hve.
Yeah ... I remember playing the final battle of Pirate's Curse thinking, "Where the [string of expletives] did this come from?!"
