Anyone else disappointed in the bosses? *spoilers*
It just seems like so many are designed so poorly...the only one I have consistently beat without getting hit much was the sea vent lab one.

First boss first time through I could not figure out what the switches do. At first I thought they controlled where the lights show up, but nope. Then I thought maybe they moved her left or right and misunderstood and just took many, many minutes of unnecessary damage as I thought it was just random where she went.

Second boss, I still don’t have any sort of strategy that works well other than abusing the newt rather than the drill. I’m not really sure why the sand pits are even in the room because you still take damage from every attack and so far as I’ve tried, the drill doesn’t damage her at all.

Fourth would be ok if she had a more set pattern but on my first attempt I swear she filled the room with water 3 or 4 times before deciding to become vulnerable.

I’m not far after that in my NG+ playthrough but I don’t have high hopes for the rest. I suppose Risky is ok, and the towers are alright for mini bosses, even the last boss’s first phase is fine. But #5 and the true final boss were a mess imo.

I remember not liking the bosses in Half Genie Hero either. I’ll have to replay Pirate’s Curse to see if those still hold up.

It’ll be interesting to see if there are no damage runs of this game. I don’t mind challenge but it’s the design that really bothers me.

this was my first Shantae game ever (it was a part of Apple Arcade so i said why not), and i love metroidvania's like this so maybe hardcore fans will agree more with you; but i loved everything about the game including the boss fights. i found the drill one to be pretty hard/annoying because it was all luck to know which sand to drill before the damn thing jumps. but like any game, once you learn the pattern most bosses become easy, imo.

dandara i find to be a pretty hard game, but once i learned each bosses patterns i wreck em

With the drill boss it must've glitched for me because I dug out all the pits and when she jumped over it didn't get her stuck so I thought "Oh I guess it must be something else" The bosses are really one-note and a huge wasted opportunity because they don't even talk with you. Wayforward has amazing art and music people but they clearly need more gameplay people for games like this. The end is especially egregious where it's just a huge boring gauntlet.

I'm disappointed with the overly simple patterns and that the bosses die after approximately 2 cycles. I don't think they are confusing.

The last boss on the other hand tanks way too much damage.

Yeah that was awful, made worse by the audio glitch on the electric balls, RIP headphone users.

Not sure how you didn't figure out the switches moved her. Since she...yknow..doesn't move if you aren't on them.

You're supposed to remove the sandpit when she jumps at you, causing her to get stuck.

4th boss is a bit random, but all of the attacks are stupid easy to avoid. Actually probably the easiest boss in the game.

It seems like I had the opposite issue as you, where all the bosses actually felt absurdly easy, and died within 1 or 2 cycles since I was able to get full Scimitar/Whip speed by the 2nd dungeon already.

I was disappointed because the bosses were kinda boring for the most part and hardest part about the fights were figuring out what to do, but once you knew it was stupidly simple and no challenge. No phases in the boss fights just hit em a bunch and done.

Laugh all you want, but I didn't know this, and just beat her in those brief moments when she landed. i probably abused the extremely generous food items to stay alive, but I was justifying it by telling myself that it was more efficient than dying several times before figuring her patterns out. I kinda think it's probably bad design that the sand only reacts to this particular boss for this particular fight, and in no other area of the game does sand ever work like this. I thought you were supposed to just hide in it.
