"Game did not close correctly. Restore last known property?"
Myself and my partner have had this issue since updating the game, We've migrated the save files as suggested and also disabled steam cloud saves, and verified the files too but nothing's working.

She has noticed however, that if you click "CANCEL" instead of "OK", it will actually load the save and everything will be there but if you click "OK" it loads a previous save and progress gets lost.

I've deleted the steam_autocloud files and the recovery.house file located in the %appdata% folder after disabling cloud saves and this actually gets rid of the "recovery screen"

So, I think someone's messed up somewhere down the line with this recent update because as soon as I switch cloud saves back on, those file re-appear and everything messes up again.

I've lost all the progress from 15/02/2024 which sucks but what can you do, just hope they actually fix this issue.

I hope this helps, not sure if it will but there you go. ^_^

(EDIT: I have found that deleting the Recovery.House file does get rid of this pop up and the game is in fact saved, for some reason the game is making new recovery files on exit even though it's being saved. *shrugs* I ain't got no clue! ^_^

I have 2 Coastal properties I am trying to renovate but they don't save! One of them did work and I was able to finish it. I am so frustrated because I get so far and then realize it didn't save past picking up the trash! So frustrating. They keep saying they are fixing this issue but even with the latest update and the hot fix in January it still doesn't always save.

I know what you mean, this is the 1st time I've experienced it and it's really ticked me off, I spent hours on a build yesterday only for it all to vanish in the blink of an eye.

Yeah, same. Every time I load my game I get this message now. Super annoying!

Exactly the same. Now every time I load my game I get this message. And I now always start in sandbox mode, even though I finished in story mode. Before, I never had any problems saving and didn't lose any progress. In German it means worse, improved (verschlimmbessert)

Same issue here since last update  It can be fixed by manually manipulating the save files for now. PLEASE FIX ASAP for us. Cheers.

ALSO.... the old save file in Documents that we can delete, still gets recreated on the game startup. I don't think it is relevant however, it is very confusing. Please stop the game from creating the House Flipper 2 folder in the old Documents location.

Yes I’ve started getting this issue in sandbox mode ever since the most recent update. I don’t know if it happens in the playable game because I haven’t used that for a bit. So far my saves seem to be as expected when I go back to the last used one.

This is what I am doing until it's fixed and I'm not saying it's the best thing to do but it WORKS, and what I'm doing is taking everything from C:\Users\YOURNAME\%appdata%>LocalLow>FrozenDistrict>HouseFlipper2 and COPYING it to a folder on your desktop or somewhere safe every time you "save and quit" just in case.

From what I've learned is the game is saving but it's telling you upon launch that the game did not close correctly and if you click OK it reverts to an old save when the current save is actually intact.

By clicking Cancel it should load up the most current save you've made and allow you to pick up where you've left off.

I had a build that was meant to be going up on YouTube this week but after this bug I lost around 5 hours of building and decorating progress which absolutely sucked! ^_^

I have the same issue here + crahes and save issues with certain houses. All of it since the update!

Yes, and I too felt that is strange!

SAME, same, same, same, same... I will try deleting the recovery file as posted here. Also, when I choose CANCEL instead of OK, I do not get the latest file save. Went thru the "fix" which did nothing. Bottom line...players should NOT have to reinvent the wheel on PC for games o work. Case in point, the fix didn't work anyway. Thanks all for posting what you know! Fingers crossed they fix the fix...rather fix the game. Never had problems until this last update.:bessie_angry:

Squeaker5353, I noticed that the recover.house get re-created regularly, so probably no need to delete it. We just need to be aware of the issue. I don't know why you did not get your latest save file, as pressing CANCEL for me works. DEVS PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS ISSUE A.S.A.P. BEFORE YOUR PLAYERS DO LOSE THEIR SAVES.
CrazyCatLady Feb 18, 2024 @ 5:11pm
Same here! Getting this message *every* time I open the game, and if I click OK it takes me to the last house I worked on instead of the main menu. Also takes me to a previous save and loses work I did. Glad to see it's not just me but it's very annoying and needs to be fixed ASAP! :(
BeefyComb Feb 19, 2024 @ 2:26am
It does actually seem like the recovery.house file is automatically added when you save and quit BUT whenever I have received the "Game did not close correctly. Restore last known property?" message, I went into the Folder mentioned above and deleted the recovery.house file and upon launching the game, that warning never popped up and I was able to resume where I left off.

I guess this is a "take it with a pinch of salt or your mileage may vary" situation as this works for me but it might not for everyone, but I would recommend backing up the save files after saving and quitting the game from the folder location mentioned above just to be safe.

My game is doing exactly the same as Squeaker5353. When I choose CANCEL instead of OK, I do not get the latest file save. When I choose OK, it takes me to the same sandbox house regardless of the last house I was in. I've tried the 'fixes' they don't work. This pretty much makes the game unplayable for me.
