duplicate style tool unlock not working

Im at a point in the game, where I should have unlocked the copy style feature. My friend did unlock it at the book cafe, as far as she can remember. I am already further into the game but when I use the Flipper tool and press R all other features except for the selling features are still locked.

I haven't worked out how to get it to work aside from the selecting a surface and being able to go to the store page where it is sold. Not loving some of these 'features'. So far, the game feels more like a 'cleaning simulator' more than renovations.

Have you unlocked it in the perk tab? Each of the different abilities in the flipper tool have to be unlocked there. I might just be a bit of a fool but I didn't realise you could scroll down on the perk tab at first, so I missed the rest of the options down there.
