Besides carpets there are a few other things in the career store with resizing options that we just can't change; there's a few shelves with it enabled, some ceiling beams, and most ceiling hung lamps also have the option to change the cable length, just for some reason not in career.
Hoping it's an oversight and will come in an update
+1 for resize-able stuff!

EDIT:
Sorry to mislead people - I did this in Sandbox and forgot to check story mode was the same, it isn't, you only get 4 colour choices in story mode. *puts self on naughty step*
Tell us why mirrors are blank and don't reflect anything. Tell us how we change the colour of "Bricks" I have a boundary to boundary building on top of a beach house (All but a 6 feet walkway around it) In all it's 5 stories tall and there's no way to easily clad or paint the exterior for more than 3 stories (and that ain't easy)
Why do we have to climb on random furniture to place items in hanging cupboards or on shelves. (Actually I've just figured it out, load them up at a lower level then raise them to the desired height).
Why can't we remove all the trees or simply move them if you're a Greenie.? Pillars are bountiful if you don't mind square pillars. All a Dev has to do is look at the popularity of items available in the HF1 workshop. if they're popular put them in HF1.1. Why does the game lose tiles if you leave the game. Come back later and you'll find holes in your hard work.
Why does your paint roller paint through walls? How come bricks will happily divide when you build under parts of a roof, but refuse to do so on stairs? Why does the sledge hammer suddenly decide to knock down more bricks AFTER you'v swung it? Why is there no undo in career mode? I hate having to unpack a box of wallpaper or tiles just to cover one brick.
Why does my game have a weird shaped 4 tile void in the path? Why are there no left opening doors to the inside. Why are there 40+ 4 tile width windows but only 7 of other widths? How many people use those windows with pieces chopped off? Why can I see daylight or light from the adjoining room under the wall? Why don't we have water for DIY swimming pools?
These are only a few of the questions I ask whilst playing HF1.1 (NO not HF1, HF1.1 which is all this game deserves. I will continue to refer to it as such, until it's more deserving
of the HF2 title. I
NB: I don't expect answers from those who believe this game is perfect or fantastic etc. But I do hope the "Manager" looks at it and perhaps he will consider a few changes prior to shutting the game down. Like minded players are more than welcome to message me and chat about the problems they've encountered. Or perhaps add them to those above. Then in a few months time we can see how many have been rectified. THE END: Finally :-)
I don't think this is the right thread for this comment... Why are you asking OP questions? They were just sharing something cool with the rest of us...
Also, you can remove trees by selling them.... . . .
1. Why don't you watch some YouTube videos from 2018 and see how bad HF1 was when it first came out?
2. Why can't you realise that it took HF1 about 3 years (until about the time of Luxury DLC release) to get anywhere near as good as it is now?
3.Why do you expect each and every annoyance, no matter how minor, to be resolved within one month of release?
As mentioned by the poster above, trees can be sold. You can build pillars with the build tool, and apply paint or surface finish to them as well. There is scaffolding in the shop, including a two-storey version. The undo function has been a popular request - likely to be added in the near future.
The base game of HF1 originally had only about 3 window styles in total, which could not be moved or removed. That function was added in the Luxury DLC, while the ability to move exterior doors and paint ceilings came with Pets
