Another thread about pictures and carpets.
I have just watched a tips and tricks video on YouTube, and was so impressed by one of the tips, that I decided to share it.

In HF2, walls and floors are functionally identical! Which enabled me to do this:

The wall-to-wall fitted carpet is actually wallpaper. The abstract painting is made from a rug.

The level of freedom is mindblowing. We can put any of the colours, materials and patterns on just about anything! I don't think I can ever go back to HF1 now, especially since we have some tools that I've been wanting for years :)

In FD's livestream when HF2 was released, one of the devs used the carpet to make a custom mousepad cover for the desk resized, people give this game crap for the lack of options when all the options are buried benieth options you choose.

Please don't get me wrong - I Do feel carpets are necessary! Especially as you can't make wallpaper fluffy... However, they are not even on the planned list yet, so it could be several months before they are implemented. In the meantime, we could just as well DIY carpets with wallpaper and paint, and the columns with the building and finishing tool combo.

The weird thing is that carpets are in the game and in career, but unlike in sandbox we don't have the tools to resize them even though the icon for resizable items still shows in the shopping window.

Besides carpets there are a few other things in the career store with resizing options that we just can't change; there's a few shelves with it enabled, some ceiling beams, and most ceiling hung lamps also have the option to change the cable length, just for some reason not in career.
Hoping it's an oversight and will come in an update

When people are asking for carpets, they often mean "fitted, wall-to-wall ones", as opposed to rugs, which is what you mean.

+1 for resize-able stuff!

Oh that is what I mean, it's just that the small, square, rug looking carpet tiles, resized to fit the whole floor and the edges hidden inside the walls, is how I've seen carpets done in the few story mode houses that have them.

One option to make wall to wall carpeting is to use suitably recoloured Pea Gravel, it results in a fairly convincing carpet texture!

EDIT:
Sorry to mislead people - I did this in Sandbox and forgot to check story mode was the same, it isn't, you only get 4 colour choices in story mode. *puts self on naughty step*

Even though I still much rather have the more realistic garphics style of HF1 (but in the upgraded quality of HF2; I still hope they will change the graphics a bit :( ) ánd I do not think there is enough content for HF2 yet to already have really fun with it... I agree! HF1 gives us so little freedom in comparison to HF2, that I think I 'can' go back to HF1 either!

This is awesome, but my game must be bugged because I only have 4 colors to choose from. The screen says "Color palette: color name loc key" and has 4 swatches only.

Did you press 'E' so you have all the colour swatches to choose from?

That's all very well, but it's nor wall to wall carpet. Now tell us how to hang curtains, or blinds. Tell us how we put furniture in the Band Stand, or how we fit lighting to it. How do we make verandah stairs vanish.

Tell us why mirrors are blank and don't reflect anything. Tell us how we change the colour of "Bricks" I have a boundary to boundary building on top of a beach house (All but a 6 feet walkway around it) In all it's 5 stories tall and there's no way to easily clad or paint the exterior for more than 3 stories (and that ain't easy)

Why do we have to climb on random furniture to place items in hanging cupboards or on shelves. (Actually I've just figured it out, load them up at a lower level then raise them to the desired height).

Why can't we remove all the trees or simply move them if you're a Greenie.? Pillars are bountiful if you don't mind square pillars. All a Dev has to do is look at the popularity of items available in the HF1 workshop. if they're popular put them in HF1.1. Why does the game lose tiles if you leave the game. Come back later and you'll find holes in your hard work.

Why does your paint roller paint through walls? How come bricks will happily divide when you build under parts of a roof, but refuse to do so on stairs? Why does the sledge hammer suddenly decide to knock down more bricks AFTER you'v swung it? Why is there no undo in career mode? I hate having to unpack a box of wallpaper or tiles just to cover one brick.

Why does my game have a weird shaped 4 tile void in the path? Why are there no left opening doors to the inside. Why are there 40+ 4 tile width windows but only 7 of other widths? How many people use those windows with pieces chopped off? Why can I see daylight or light from the adjoining room under the wall? Why don't we have water for DIY swimming pools?

These are only a few of the questions I ask whilst playing HF1.1 (NO not HF1, HF1.1 which is all this game deserves. I will continue to refer to it as such, until it's more deserving
of the HF2 title. I

NB: I don't expect answers from those who believe this game is perfect or fantastic etc. But I do hope the "Manager" looks at it and perhaps he will consider a few changes prior to shutting the game down. Like minded players are more than welcome to message me and chat about the problems they've encountered. Or perhaps add them to those above. Then in a few months time we can see how many have been rectified. THE END: Finally :-)

I don't think this is the right thread for this comment... Why are you asking OP questions? They were just sharing something cool with the rest of us...

Also, you can remove trees by selling them.... . . .

Since I have started this thread, let me ask You a couple questions of my own:

1. Why don't you watch some YouTube videos from 2018 and see how bad HF1 was when it first came out?
2. Why can't you realise that it took HF1 about 3 years (until about the time of Luxury DLC release) to get anywhere near as good as it is now?
3.Why do you expect each and every annoyance, no matter how minor, to be resolved within one month of release?

As mentioned by the poster above, trees can be sold. You can build pillars with the build tool, and apply paint or surface finish to them as well. There is scaffolding in the shop, including a two-storey version. The undo function has been a popular request - likely to be added in the near future.

The base game of HF1 originally had only about 3 window styles in total, which could not be moved or removed. That function was added in the Luxury DLC, while the ability to move exterior doors and paint ceilings came with Pets

Yes, I go into the custom menu, hit the icon to change color and it shows 4 colors with the words I stated. I feel it's a bug. I've verified files, so I will submit to the devs in the bugs thread.

Sorry my bad - I did this in Sandbox but it seems in story mode you don't get the same options - so sorry :steamsad:
