Building floors and outside tiling (ground)

So I've been trying to do sandbox mode but can't seem to get the floors built or find a way to add tile/painting options for the ground outside other than dirt and sand. Any help would be great.

Hi , to build in the ground outside , hit G key , then use C and SPACE key to go up and down , once down place bricks in the below dirt , that will allow you to tile the ground outside , cheers

A floor (and a ceiling) is just an horizontal wall.

If you open the options on the wall building tool, you can set the first property to either inward or outward. Setting it to inward allows you to build in the floor, rather than on it, without having to use G.

I also cannot get them to place and G and C arent working. Just making me go up and down

one click of the G key is for entering fly mode (click again to leave) and allows you to move through walls and floors, if it isn't working check your key binds or make sure you have it enabled. You can also select it from the tools menu. Once in fly mode C will make you go down (including below ground level) you can use this to place wall along the under side of ground level to make the floor. space bar will make you go back up again ;)
or you can just make the floor using the wall straight on the ground, its what i did in my first one just means you have a step up into house level.
