Reason for not selling family home
Since the game never had a home that wasn't for sale, I would like to know why the family home was tagged as unsellable. I understand the game notes that it doesn't belong to you, but why? Having such a large asset that you can only spend money on, doesn't make sense. It is good to use as a learning tool, as something to practice on, but then spending you in game money doing so only hurts the players economy. Are there plans to allow the player to acquire the home as a gift from their parents. Even buying the home, once its remodeled would be very expensive. I just cannot fathom having a home , and a large home, you cannot sell.

I am really confused right now. Do you mean the house you “wake up” in at the start of the game?

After I bought my first house, I moved my office to the new house. “Put the laptop in the fridge because .. well you know .. and then went back to the first house and hit tab and up at the top was the option to auction house. That first house now shows up in my sold houses. I can even buy it back and then sell it again. Once I moved the laptop to the new house it was open to be sold.

I have the entire quest line complete so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. I didn’t try selling it till I finished the last quest. All mail is empty and there are no more jobs. But yeah I definitely sold that house. So now I wonder if my selling it was the result of a glitch since I am seeing a lot of people say they can’t sell it..

I am the same way and I get no option to sell that house: https://i.imgur.com/sdv1kHL.png
So if you were able to sell it that is awesome!

It's probably a lore reason - not wanting to sell the house you grew up in, etc. This restriction can probably be reverted easily by the devs if enough people ask. Or there could be a cheat code somewhere.

Moving my office did not transfer the laptop. Going back to the house after moving my office, the laptop was still there in "the family home". I did get the Auction tab while there, but the message it gave when clicked is "You are not able to sell the family home as you do not own it, despite what your mother said" I played over 700 hours in the OG game, and still trying to get around in this one, so perhaps there is something I need to do that I am still unaware of.

If you already moved the office to the new location, try using the Flipper Tool to sell the laptop, then buy one in the "new office" house. See if that works.

If I remember rightly, you don't even need to sell the old laptop, or move your office. You simply need to buy a laptop to be able to use it in the same way as the old one (open the lid first, of course).

Buying another laptop is the new office.. Tried it.. Sell the old one .. Tried it.. Even before posting. I cannot find a single article or blog that says you can sell the house. 100% of the information about the family home states you cannot sell it. My Question was directed at the Developers since, if it was possible at one time, why it changed? If it was never possible in the Second Version of House Flippers, Why?

You can, however, smash it to bits with a sledgehammer.

For lore reasons? HF2 does have a plot, they probably have plans for the family home is a future update or DLC.

You absolutely *can* sell the Peacey's house (the original default house you get at the start of the game). I just sold it and it shows up in my Sold tab.

You can now, but you couldn't when this discussion was started. Many players requested this, so the devs changed it in one of the updates.

Thanks for the update. It was just the expectation. I spent income updating it and had to tear it down to get some money back. Nice to know now.

That's what I figured, since a lot of people were saying you couldn't, but I've only started HF2 recently.

Could you possibly rebuild it to some extent and then sell it?
SevernFyre Oct 29, 2024 @ 7:46pm
oh sure I can now. It was a minor disappointment that's all. I finished what there was to do and decided to ask. The answer was "wait". The lore would come and then the house could be sold. I played the OG far far longer than most, way before HGTV and the gardens.. It became easier to figure out, I wont lie, some of the hints and who to style the house for was crossed eyed, but laughable. I don't think it was a deal breaker, just wanted to understand the reason.
