I feel like a lot of these positive reviews are joke reviews, or just people trying to raise the rating while still having complaints with it..
No different mechanic , but mostly a very limited items content inside , between much other stuff missing
I don't get why not just copy and paste the first game THEN improve what they did in this game.
1. The mechanics have been improved, especially, in my opinion, painting and furnishing. Also, a grid, ability to build houses in sandbox mode and a new wiring mechanic.
2. The town, Pinnacove, is divided into 3 areas and has a real sense of place.
3. The new Flipper tool is a game changer! It starts out as a simple selling tool, but you later unlock the "duplicate item", "copy style" (which also works for wall finishes) and "edit style" functions. "Edit style" allows you to edit the item After buying it, which means you can see what option will look best in the room.
4. The perk system is better.
5. The assembly mode has been moved, which means you can now see that shower before placing it down and move it from place to place.
Minuses:
1. The assembly mode is now a separate mode, timed and with a horrible camera
2. Some items haven't been implemented yet. Currently the devs are working on curtains, blinds, fire for candles/fireplaces and stepladders.
3. Items in the store come in a very wide range of finishes, colours and patterns, but the choice of designs/shapes is currently very limited.
In short, find a playthrough series on YouTube, watch it and decide for yourself.
The first part is 5 years old and has grown a lot in that time, both from free additional content every few months as well as paid DLCs (7 in total). By the way, always FULL of player requested mechanics, items and options! So of course it has a lot more items and features than this brand new second part got at release a week ago.
House Flipper 2 is mainly the same game (other story, houses, jobs, but the same principle), but built up from the ground again, without some technical limitations and mistakes the first game had since it was more a "We would like to play a game like this, so let's make it!" approach.
So at the moment you can choose: do you want to get the 5 year old game with a lot of content and several DLCs (and yes, calculate to get pretty much all of them since otherwise, you won't have many features others mentioned here - like before/after pics which were part of HGTV DLC), but limitations and therefore possibly not much big new stuff coming? Or do you bet on the brand new game which currently has a bit less content, but an enormous potential for growth in the future?
However, I haven't tried sandbox mode yet. If you're more interested in just building houses that mode seems to be much more fleshed out, so it may be worth the current price in that case.
