Yeah, there are some missing things, I'm going to chalk it down to release date, iirc it was meant to come out Q3 not Q4, so probably some timeline things, but idk I can only speculate.
Also, we have been critical (at least I know I have) of HF1 so maybe they are just trying to find out what is most important to us early stages. With that said, I found out that you can use the wall paper on the floor so is that what we are supposed to do for wall to wall carpeting? It isn't carpet texture but could work until they give us that texture (if it was inded and oversight). Just curious. I didn't stop to see if there are textures in the solid colors that could work for carpets. I am a bit more optimistic at any rate.
oh that's a good idea, I'll have to look and see if that's an option, but yeah probably feeling out what people feel is most important. Though that was one thing I disliked about house flipper 1, they avoided the more traditional and older styles, (Carpets, certain tiles and colors, furniture) in favor of the more modern stuff like you'd see on HGTV or in a hollywood mansion, like for sure I wanna be able to make ultra modern stuff but sometimes you wanna make a 1970s split level or a 1980s family home, and those have carpets and stuff. Going even older pocket doors. . . something we didn't get in 1 for a long time, but we had those sliding barn doors long before that.
that said, I have not tried to manipulate the pattern any for color changes. maybe it will look horrible in any color -not- cement!
i remember in the Sims 2 or 3 when they finally added the feature to save textures as premades and it made that game lag horribly.
i love this "wood on the wall, wallpaper on the floor" thing though.
Yeah, lots of textures but not all are recolor-able, maybe they will add that to the game...
Exactly! I was hopeful that we would be given access to all textures and surfaces so we could apply them to all the items available but I guess if they do that then it restricts them on dllc later, which I am fine with to a point. Lol,
I agree and disagree, on one hand there is much less content than the first one currently has, however if you compare to something like Cities Skylines 2 that was broken on launch. . . this is a bit better, less content on launch but not broken is better than a bunch of broken content. Now, I support the Cities Skylines devs so don't take that the wrong way, but I think the devs for HF:2 made the right choice by polishing the game first. HF:1 was pretty bare bones too when it came out.
Right, wasn't thinking about that, good point. I think we may get there through the perk system, so we will see.
Oh for sure, I know, I personally am not a fan of carpets either tbh, I have hardwood in my bedroom while my parents (more old school american) have carpet in theirs. I insisted on wood because it looks nicer (Imo) and its easier to clean, plus area rugs! But for challenges and also just general fun it's nice to have the option, the textures already exist in HF1 they could probably just import them to 2 under a carpet category. But Yeah I know its not top priority for them.
Lol, right. Did you know there is a choice to add ´fluffy carpet´texture to your beds comforter you just can´t have it on the floor?
I think it's important to keep in mind that HF1 has had several xpacs. You see the same thing with The Sims, where the newest game always feels a little empty for a while, because it doesn't have any xpacs.
That said, no carpet at all does seem like an oversight to me. If there was just one kind of carpet then all the colors we can customize, I'd get it. But no carpet at all?
I went to put carpet on my second floor (because no one wants hardwood stomping above their head!) and couldn't find any wall-to-wall carpet, just the rugs.
