I guess they want it to be more like real paint you buy.
Also, if you look on the right in the middle, you see that paint palette. Click on it and you can choose between those two materials / textures. So here you find another 162 options.
This makes 324 different options of paint! Don't you think this is enough for the beginning ;)?
And why do you think it would be a great idea to have even more options to scroll through for hours in a computer game?
