Motion Sickness
I didn't want to leave a review with this, because the game is enjoyable! But I don't know about anyone else, but I'm actually having some horrible motion sickness (headaches) playing this game. Even with Motion Blur turned off, FOV adjusted, and mouse sensitivity turned down, there's still just something weird with this game that is causing this. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't have issues like this with any other game that is also first person view. Only other game I experienced this was with Powerwash Sim when it was first released (I think they patched it later and the motion sickness stopped).

Not sure if the devs will see this or not, but wanted to say something at least. I want to play this game so bad!

I've turned off motion blur, bloom, and ambient occlusion and that helped me tremendously.

I didn't think of the last two - I'll give that a try! Thanks!

Turn off motion blur, depth of field, ambient occlusion and raise the Field of View to about 90, all this will help

I dunno why developers conitnue to add these garbage options (accept FOV) when all it does is not only cause motion sickness but hurts the quality of the visuals anyway

I have the same problem and I think adding an option to adjust (slow down) the default walk speed would really help.
I turned off the motion blur, took the FOV all the way down to 60 (lowest it will go) limited my frame rate to 60, selected the option to run the game in a window, and played with a bunch of other settings. My tech-trained husband says it's most likely the FOV, and is surprised that we can't go lower than 60 (we both found that going higher made things worse). Even he was feeling a bit sick turning around in the starter room. The horrible wallpaper doesn't help either, as rooms with solid colors were nicer to my brain than patterned walls.

I really really want to play the ever-loving heck out of this game, as I did NOT have any sickness with HF1. Unfortunately, the nausea and resulting migraine from yesterday's 4 hour play session means I can't really do much in game right now. I also hope the devs find a way to help reduce the motion sickness, perhaps by allowing us to limit the FOV more.

how is higher fov worse? the more the FOV the slower the turning speed = less Motion sickness

I had the same issue, not uncommon for me (raft, Minecraft) so I turned the FOV up to 90 as I usually do and it was so much worse. Dropped it back to 60 so I could test other settings and it was better. Exact opposite of my usual experience, super weird. Doesn’t help everything is so flat and you can’t zoom out at all. I got used to it a bit but I can tell marathons would be a bad idea.

After playing some more today, I was noticing a lot of the issue was coming from the jerky walking as well! I play mouse/keyboard, and there's only one speed with that, so you go from still to super fast and stop way too quickly, it's just nauseating. I noticed when I tried playing with controller, it was actually much better for me. Except I'd rather play mouse/keyboard. lol

I definitely think an adjustment to the movement with mouse/keyboard is a necessity!

Yeah, I noticed the FOV is a bit weird in this game as well. Too high and things get way too skewed, making it even more nauseating. Hopefully something will get figured out for us motion sickness peoples! lol

That's what I read, but we both tried it on different settings and found that the lower, the better. As another person said, the higher you go the more the walls and such start to get skewed and seem to curve in on themselves. I did try somewhere between 70 - 80 on FOV, but it didn't help at all. Higher than 80 and things spun so fast and skewed in too quickly, and this was with motion blur turned off and a lot of other display settings either disabled or turned way down. My monitor and system are built for gaming and are rather new, so it can handle everything at max setting without any issues - it's just my brain that can't handle it. :P

I do agree that slowing down the walking speed and getting rid of the bouncy "realistic" camera movements when walking would help. I also took someones advice and walked around holding the sell/edit gun, which has a little reticle that provides a focus point on the screen. That helped a bit too.

I've changed every setting as recommended, even changed to windowed 4:3 aspect ratio to give myself more grounding room on my monitor. I can't play for more than about 5 minutes before the nausea begins. Very sad as this was a pricey game and the content is right up my alley. Any chance the developers might consider a third-person perspective as this seems to be very common?

If you're playing up close like on a laptop or very close computer screen, you're going to want a higher FOV. If you're playing on a big screen further away like a console gaming system on a TV, you'll want a lower FOV. Exact numbers depend on screen size on your distance from the screen. But that should help you get closer to what your brain wants to see so it doesn't wanna puke.

I WAS going to purchase this game..... until I saw this thread. Thanks!

I have had to return so many games due to motion sickness even though they were otherwise amazing.

So sad.
