Create Motor City Online from Car Mechanic Simulator

OK, I've had this game since it came out, as well as the previous version and I don't know why I've never thought of this before...why couldn't the developer make a Motor City Online equivalent, based off of CMS 2021?

Think about all the parts that exist in this game already. From a part customization standpoint, a big portion of that already exists today. Just license and add more brand name parts, and add the ability for parts to have different values (HP, compression, etc).

I mean, it surely wouldn't be simple, but based off of what CMS2021 has today, it seems like the closest thing from a part customization side of being able to recreate MCO.

It amazes me that no developer has ever tried Motor City Online to this day. Besides being scrapped by EA to devote more resources to the Sims (ugh), the game was ahead of its time. If it would have been released 5-10 years later when online gaming was in a much better state, I think the game would have taken off. Heck, my at the time 60 year old father in law, who plays zero video games, was signed up for the game because he was a big car guy.

What does everyone else think? If the developers were interested, would CMS2021 be a good starting point for Motor City Online 202x?

I'd love to see a game like that.... Old school MMORPG based on cars.... I imagine a game like The Crew or NFS with large maps to explore, races events, junk yards, abandoned cars, performance shops, player driven economy with trading, etc but with CMS level mechanics. Most car games are just too basic.... drag and drop to change parts or the car levels up on it's own....meh.... Someone please do better!!

I never played Motor City. It was dead and gone years before I even heard of it but I am a fan of those old MMOs. Unfortunately those kinda games are dying out. No one is willing to invest in development costs.

Well... this is 'sort of' similar but, there's a newer version being worked on... supposedly.

The newer version is supposed to be in the works but, it's been pretty quiet on the Dev's end for a while now. Not sure if it's still being worked on or not.
