Anyone help with the save game editor through notepad?
I'm trying to edit my save but it's not registering when I play the game. There was a guide on how to do it. But since been taken down I believe. Anyone know how to edit the files for money, scrap parts etc?

No way to edit saves anymore.

Too bad. Don't know why that would be such a big deal that they would need to stop it. But there you have it. Thank you for the information!

It was changed, because old save system can produce very big saves which can lead to Steam cloud issues and even game crashes on low end machines.

Always a pleasure. The reason given was to decrease save file size and bloat, which can increase the chances of your game crashing. If you look in your Save folder, the size difference between the original profile and the new profile'x'b is pretty significant.

Didn't mean to step on your answer. Must've posted while I was typing. Cheers.

I'd also recommend to anyone not to use cloud sync for any game, and just create a backup save in a separate folder. CMS '21 creates a backup save automatically, though it's usually a few hours behind your current save, so if you have to load the backup, you might lose a bit of progress. Still good to have in a pinch, in case you're not backing every day. I don't either ;)

Are you talking about editing save files with notepad? I just checked and I am still able to... I can scroll down and edit money as well as other things... unless there is some update my game has not downloaded It's still possible for me at least.

Yeah, in notepad. Are you editing the original profile, or the 'b' profile?

I'm not sure... The files I'm looking at are in Appdata/locallow/red dot games/CMS 2021/save.
I have a file for each game save and I can open and edit them.

Yep. There should be two variants of each profile in that folder, as long as you've created a save for that profile.

As an example:

profile1.cms21
profile1.cms21b

You can still edit profile1, but editing 1b will cause issues. If you delete 1b, the next time you save again, another one will be created, but you'll lose all the progress on 'b', of course.

RDG implemented this in February or March, if I remember right. If you haven't updated your game since then, I guess you wouldn't have the 'b' profiles. If you're editing the 'b' profiles, and they're working for you, share the knowledge, man. :D Lots of folks would love to know about that.

I have updated and I do have the b files but I just assumed the b stood for backup and left it alone. I don't really know what I'm doing. I have no idea the difference between the 2 files. I only went digging through the files to tip my self some money!

Well, hell, that's cool. If it works for you, hell yeah.
