Rubber bushing wtf
So o finished the 96 “Camaro”, and it says I’m missing a rubber bushing. Literally inspected every single one on the car and walked the car in inspection mode. All are yellow or green. I think it’s kind of f***ed up this game can say something that vague and not have an option for maybe a hint as to where tf it is. Anyone know how to find out where it’s missing from? I have literally checked all of them.

"Yellow or Green" that would mean you haven't put a new 100% in the correct place.
Even though job list says "replace below X%" with repairable parts you can use a part above that %, however if it is a consumable part (bushes, rings, etc.) it must be 100%.
You could go around replace each non 100% one at a time checking the job list each time to see if clears it.
Or Just say F**k-it and replace all with new and lose a couple of bucks on the job.

This applies to all consumable parts, so you need to take note of which need to be replaced and put the new in the right spot.
Go under car status and see if you can "Mark" the part. It will highlight where the part goes in a light blue.

Yes this, I play in expert so it's not available (ergo I forgot to mention it as third option) but in normal and easy you can click on the star in the job list to mark the part location.
So I figured it out with trial and error. It was a bushing at 60% which should be above the replace threshold. It also never showed up red in view mode. Ty for input I didn’t know about this and I’ll see if it helps. Thanks fellas.

Yes above threshold for repairable parts but not the consumables. Didn't show as red as was above 15% health which is different to what is required for job list.
BTW just in case, for jobs you don't get paid for anything that is not on the list, So replacing all the bushes will bite into your profit a little but sometimes it is just easier than having to think about it to much.
Once I'm starting to get into the bigger jobs that pay well, I just replace all the bushes, spark plugs, rings, tie rods, brake pads and the like if any are needed on the job, and justify it as good old fashion service, plus I like things to be balanced.

this infuriates me!!! i wish you never posted this ...
I ALWAYS replace the brake pads if they are on the job .. because in my mind .. they are CRITICAL to safety .. I can't let a car leave my shop with dodgy brakes!!!
and now you mean to tell me I've been losing money this entire time?!?
I also tend to replace all the spark plugs because they seem important .. and I lose money doing this too!! urghh.. why do we get punished for being kind hearted good mechanics ?!?

(also random question) .. how important are bushings / rings / tie rods / distributors ?? I'm not quite into cars enough to know if they are critical to safety or not.

Good old fashion service, absolutely nothing wrong with taking pride in your work, to me it's worth so much more than a few bucks.
Really the profit margins are strong enough to handle it, average job is around 40-50% net just buying everything new from store and not bothering with the repair path. (I've got notes on over 100 jobs)
The jobs that ask you to "increase performance by 10-15%" you can really lose some money on, the job is costed to the cheapest parts to make the minimum % required, so it will need some maths to add up best value parts per %, so adding a 3,000 credit gearbox for 1% gain will kill your bank. (air filter and some exhaust pipes will usually do it)

As to safety, the suspension items would be fairly critical for being able to control the car well, items like distributor, rings etc. not so much as they would just lower engine performance making you go slower.
IRL... most those parts aren't going to be a safety issue till they're worn to a certain point. And, then they can be a real problem. Tie rod ends for example... if one breaks or comes apart, that wheel is going sideways and you'll most likely wreck. Ofc, it 'could' maintain forward trajectory and you safely come to a stop when you realize car isn't steering right. So, yeah... things that control steering can be critical. Brake pads? No... they either have some life left in them and do their job or they don't. A pad worn down over 50% is still going to work just as good as a new one. It just has a shorter amount of life left in it. Ignition... either your car runs or it don't.
