If scrap was easily available it would no longer make it special, but it is pretty much a waste of time and effort. IMO.
IMO, the scrap system is not only bad but I consider it a mistake! (i'm a Game Dev as well)
It makes me feel like the developers are trying to squeeze more hours of gameplay adding a really annoying mechanic. I know it's not the case cause it's optional but the point is, when you're really far on the game, this makes the difference when you're trying to break your speed record!
So IMO, it'll be really cool to have this option for people who are really far on the game, like me who is at level 40 and has more than 500K, so we can buy scraps to make AMAZING builds and really powerful engines!
So far (not that I have tried in a very long while), at around 560mph every car I tried just wants to lift off. These are rocket car speeds and we can make nearly all cars out perform any RL counterpart already.
Maybe when the Drag DLC drops, there will be some changes to performance and traction.
I'm not suggesting you don't try, that's all part of the game, just offering my 2 cents on the matter.
I can recommend Deadbob's Mustang Drag, high base HP, modern supercharger can be boosted to around 3000Hp, OHV supercharger to about 2000HP, but I can get better results (speed and handling) using the 409 SS @ 1100 HP in the same car. Even with a meter and a half of rubber on the back, keeping traction is hard over 1600Hp in that car.
Another good contender is the Hoonigan mustang, with a base 1500HP, the AWD gives it an edge on traction.
Current game (hard) at lvl 120, with 20+ million, previous game (easy) lvl200+ with 150+ million and 60 Mclarens in the shed. This game I'm more focused on good track times rather than top speed, the less wheel spin the better. (Mclarens are broken so no longer much use other than cash cow)
And I do agree with you that this game has a limitation at 560MPH+ (I use Km/h tho) and it is REALLY NOT a simulator for physics and racing! Even BeamNG is better!
But my point is, with the today's physics, gameplay and mechanics, you'll need to slave some days to get a full 3 star car! I'm not against putting some time on games but c'mon, not THAT much time!
Every part that is "scrap-able" gives you 1-3 scraps! The higher I got from an engine block was 16 scraps! And the last star for a simple rubber bushing costs 37 scraps! This is just TOO MUCH!
EZScrap or AutoRepairBench both support this.
I will note there are actually very few QOL mods for this game, which implies to me that the designers generally designed with high quality of life. This makes the things that stink even more offensive. The scrap and repair games, having to back out of an engine to rotate on the engine stand, and having to sift through the warehouses to find a part then run back to the car and back and forth. Most mods that are QOL are fixing one or more of these three things.
And yeah, the game being "close to perfection" makes the small mistakes REALLY stand out! I can say that from Project Cars 2! I LOVED THE GAME but damn, why can't I clan up my arcade races where I'm just cruising to feel the car? xDDD
Anyways, I honestly doesn't like CMS21 cause for me it looks like a CMS2018 remaster with more DLCs (I'm considering the liquids a DLC) and for me, the scrap mechanic was the last straw imo.
But thanks man! At least we have the mod community to help us out! xD
