Does upgrading the tire quality help increase grip?
Hello, as the title goes. I'm curious if upgrading the quality of my slicks help increase grip value at all? I would test this myself but I ran out of scrap points :P

unless there is a performance % indicator, it is only money value.

I've tested before, from sport tires to slick tires, and it does increase the grip on the track. The cornering feels lot better if you use better tires and of course, less tire slip.

I don't think it did in CMS2018, but in CMS2021 it absolutely increases grip. Take any low-end economy car to the track and put in a bunch of laps to see how good a lap time you can get standard tires. You will then find that even just upgrading to sport tires makes a difference, let alone racing tires or slicks.

I say to use a low end car for this test so you aren't spinning and fish-tailing your way around the track (and backing off the gas to avoid doing so), which could make it harder to tell whether any difference in lap time is due to the the tires.

OP's talking about the star rating of the tires, which only influences the credit value of the car, not performance. The tire simulation is pretty bare, and in every situation you can pretty much just assume that slicks>race tires>sport tires>classics for performance on both the speed and race tracks. The tires are invulnerable and there's not a drop of moisture in all the game so for the best tire performance you just slap on some low-profile 355mm-wide race slicks on every car and that's the best you can do. Of course the upgraded ventilated brake discs help too.

I haven't tried that yet, also out of scrap. But upgrading tune-up parts increases their performance, so I would assume it could be the same with tires ??

Thank you for clearing that up. I wish I could go super wide with my slicks but they just look awful and dumb on my Porsche. I have 450HP with slicks and still barely keeping grip. I'm running 295/35/19 at the rears. Anything wider it looks like a funny car :(

I really hope they rework the tire grip physics in this game, or at least just give us the option to upgrade the "grip quality" of tires like we can with performance parts.

I know it looks dumb haha, but yeah, you gotta have comical drag race slicks on your car to really keep traction over 120 mph or so

This example is already 4x4, but you can do this with any vehicle. Slicks + 4x4 = much more grip. Tune your transmission. No need for scrap.

My rule of thumb is as wide as but still inside the fender, if you touch a wall you don't also climb the wall and flip. Set up the car first then add tuning it bits to find the traction envelope. Excess power is wasted if you can't get it to the road. (AWD Widebois rule)

AWD is obvious of course. I was hoping to keep the car RWD if possible. I will try the torque settings though. Thanks for the tip :)

The car in question at least for me is the Porsche GT3 mod with 407HP stock. I bumped it up too 450HP which ended in tragedy lol. Even stock HP its difficult to drive with the width I have :(
