Hold your horses. I just invested 20000 CR on a building left to collect dust. When you try to tune the customers car you will get a message saying "you can only tune cars you own". This surely must be a bug.
You have to buy Tunning Parts and test the car on the Dyno so you know that you have put in enough tunning parts.
Yea same just happened to me, it's dumb beyond belief how did it get past beta testing?
I managed to get by by selling old parts in my inventory and finishing small jobs I'm back to 3000 CR now, check your inventory you might have good parts to sell.
Also check for jobs with bonus CR %.
Indeed, I find it fun to try to estimate "How much more money do I need to finish this job" then estimate which new jobs will help me move towards this goal. Hint: FMW's with gearbox problems pay out *very well*.
With non-story jobs you send them off with partial job completion to get money if you can't afford the full repair.
I also recommend getting the repair station and some repair skills. It can save you loads of money. The Brake Lathe is also incredibly useful (it fully repairs rotors if they aren't in the red condition).
